The efficacy and safety of Batroxobin in combination with anticoagulation on cerebral venous sinus thrombosis
This study aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Batroxobin in combination with anticoagulation on CVST control. In this retrospective study, a total of 61 CVST patients were enrolled and divided into Batroxobin (n = 23) and control (n = 38) groups. In addition to the same standard anticoagulation in control, patients in the treatment group received Batroxobin 5 BU intravenous infusion (10 BU for the first time) every other day, for a total of three infusions. Risk Factors and Manageability of the Mainly Mild Mucocutaneous Bleeding Profile Observed in Attp Patients Treated with Caplacizumab during the Phase III Hercules Study
Conclusions: The safety profile of caplacizumab was favorable. In line with its pharmacology, treatment with caplacizumab was associated with an increased risk of mucocutaneous bleeding. These events were generally mild to moderate, and the majority did not require therapeutic intervention. Replacing PT-INR Monitoring of Warfarin with Fiix-NR in Clinical Practice Reduces Thromboembolism without Increasing Bleeding Despite Reduced Number of Dose Adjustments
Conclusions: These results are in agreement with the results of the Fiix-trial and show that ignoring factor VII during VKA monitoring is safe and leads to reduction in thromboembolism without increasing bleeding. Acute Neurotoxicity during ALL Therapy Is Associated with Treatment Intensity, Age and Female Sex - an Analysis of SAE Reports from the UKALL 2003 Trial
Discussion:This large study identifies treatment intensity as the main risk factor for developing acute neurotoxicity with female sex, age and CNS status having a significant modifying effect. CNS status may reflect increased intrathecal therapy given to non-CNS-1 patients. Females are more vulnerable to cranial radiotherapy induced neurotoxicity but this is the first report of female sex as a risk factor on contemporary chemotherapy treatment protocols. Validation of Sickle Cell Disease Severity Score in a Cohort of Hemoglobin SC Disease Patients
Conclusion: Despite having been derived from a SCD population that was 26% HbSC, the study was unable to validate the SSS within the cohort of HbSC patients. This may reflect the differences in patient population and/or therapeutic intervention between this cohort and the CSSCD cohort used in the construction of the SSS calculator. Outcome of Patients with Relapsed/Refractory (R/R) Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) Treated with Ibrutinib within a Named Patient Program (NPP) in Italy. a Real-Life Retrospective Study
Conclusions. The results of this real-life study show that in unselected patients with R/R CLL the clinical activity of ibrutinib was comparable to that reported in CTs. However, a third of patients discontinued ibrutinib within 24 months from the start of treatment. A Polymorphism in Toll-like Receptor 2 Gene Is Associated with Occurrence of Bacterial Infections in Sickle Cell Disease Patients
Discussion: In SCD pts, TLR-2 rs4696480 TA genotype might be protective against bacterial infections, whereas TT genotype might increase risk of such infections. Hydroxyurea Therapy Does Not Impact Current Survival Estimates in the East London Sickle Cell Newborn Cohort Study
Conclusions: The study is the first to evaluate survival in a newborn cohort past the age of 20 years. We have confirmed a low mortality rate in childhood, but increased number of deaths in young adults including those with HbSC. This study provides evidence of the benefit of newborn screening and comprehensive care which is accessible at all ages, free of charge. Final Results from a Phase I Trial Combining Selinexor with High-Dose Cytarabine (HiDAC) and Mitoxantrone (Mito) for Remission Induction in Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)
Conclusions: The selinexor/HiDAC/Mito regimen is feasible and tolerable at selinexor doses up to 80mg/day or ~50 mg/m2/day twice weekly.
