Mental health outcomes in children with acquired dystonia after basal ganglia stroke and associations with cognitive and motor outcomes.
The objective of this study was to explore mental health outcomes in children with basal ganglia stroke and to determine whether children with post-stroke dystonia experience additional mental health difficulties. We also examined associations between mental health, cognitive, and motor outcomes. Participants were 75 children with stroke involving the basal ganglia and/or thalamus (dystonia n = 24, no dystonia n = 51). Cognitive outcomes of pediatric stroke.
This study retrospectively examines cognitive outcomes in 41 children with a history of stroke, with reference to age at stroke, laterality, region and mechanism of stroke. In the course of recovery, neuropsychological measures of intellectual functioning and memory were administered at two time points, whilst executive functioning, attention and academic skills were administered at one time point. Post‐stroke epilepsy in Polish paediatric patients
AimThe aim of this study was to characterize a group of children with early and late remote seizures which occurred after arterial ischaemic stroke (AIS) and to find predictors of post‐stroke seizures. Predictors of neurocognitive outcome in pediatric ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke
In conclusion, lesion size and socioeconomic status predict neurocognitive outcome following pediatric stroke. An improved understanding of predictors is valuable to clinicians who have responsibilities related to neuropsychological assessment and treatments for this population.
