Neuroprotective Effect of Dexmedetomidine on Cerebral Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury in Rats
CONCLUSION: Dexmedetomidine has a dose-dependent protective effect on cerebral ischemic injury in rats. The neuroprotective effects of dexmedetomidine are achieved, in part, by reducing the oxidative stress response, inhibiting glial overactivation, and inhibiting expression levels of apoptosis-related proteins.PMID:37235497

Evaluation on the Efficacy and Safety of Panax Notoginseng Saponins in the Treatment of Stroke among Elderly People: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of 206 Randomized Controlled Trials
CONCLUSION: Single PNS intervention or PNS combined with WM/TAU significantly improves the neurological status, the overall clinical efficacy and daily living activities of elderly stroke patients. However, more multicenter RCT research with high quality is required in the future to verify the results in this study. The trial registration number: Inplasy protocol 202330042. doi:10.37766/inplasy2023.3.0042.PMID:37181679 | PMC:PMC10175014 | DOI:10.1155/2023/4312489

Amburana cearensis seed extract stimulates astrocyte glutamate homeostatic mechanisms in hippocampal brain slices and protects oligodendrocytes against ischemia
Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide. A major factor in brain damage following ischemia is excitotoxicity caused by elevated levels of the neurotransmitter glutamate. In the brain, gluta...

Po-01-083 percutaneous closure of peri-device leak following left atrial appendage closure using an amplatzer duct occluder
Percutaneous left atrial appendage (LAA) closure has been recognised as an alternative therapy for stroke prevention in selected patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AF) who have difficulties with long-term oral anticoagulation. Peri-device leaks (PDLs) are frequently diagnosed after LAA closure procedures, regardless of closure methods. PDL> 5mm is related with further embolic events. Nevertheless, management of severe PDL has been a challenging concern which requires multiple teams involved.

Medical Management of Dyslipidemia for Secondary Stroke Prevention: Narrative Review
Medicina (Kaunas). 2023 Apr 17;59(4):776. doi: 10.3390/medicina59040776.ABSTRACTDyslipidemia is a major risk factor for stroke, following hypertension, diabetes, and smoking, and is an important risk factor for the prevention and treatment of coronary artery disease and peripheral vascular disease, including stroke. Recent guidelines recommend considering low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C)-lowering therapies, such as statins (preferably), ezetimibe, or proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitors to prevent the occurrence or recurrence of stroke, adhering to the "lower is better" approach. In t...
