Approximately half of patients with status epilepticus (SE) have signal changes. MRI can also aid in the differential diagnosis with generalized NCSE when there is a clinical or EEG doubt, e.g. with metabolic/toxic encephalopathies or Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.
