Quality of Care and Outcomes for In-Hospital Ischemic Stroke: Findings From the National Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— Compared with community-onset ischemic stroke, patients with in-hospital stroke experienced more severe strokes, received lower adherence to process-based quality measures, and had worse outcomes. These findings suggest there is an important opportunity for targeted quality improvement efforts for patients with in-hospital stroke.

Ethnic Disparities in Ischemic Stroke, Intracerebral Hemorrhage, and Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Incidence in The Netherlands Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— Our findings suggest that Surinamese have an increased risk, whereas Moroccans have a reduced risk for all the various stroke subtypes. Among other ethnic minorities, the risk seems to depend on the stroke subtype and sex. These findings underscore the need to identify the root causes of these ethnic differences to assist primary and secondary prevention efforts.

Nontraditional Serum Lipid Variables and Recurrent Stroke Risk Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— Of various nontraditional lipid variables, elevated baseline triglycerides/HDL-C and total cholesterol/HDL-C ratios predict future vascular risk after a stroke, but only elevated triglycerides/HDL-C ratio is related to risk of recurrent stroke. Future studies should assess the role of triglycerides/HDL-C as a potential therapeutic target for global vascular risk reduction after stroke.

Meta-Analysis of Genome-Wide Association Studies Identifies Genetic Risk Factors for Stroke in African Americans Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— We identified a novel genetic variant associated with total stroke in African Americans and found that ischemic stroke loci identified in European-ancestry populations may also be relevant for African Americans. Our findings support investigation of diverse populations to identify and characterize genetic risk factors, and the importance of shared genetic risk across populations.

Copeptin Levels in Patients With Acute Ischemic Stroke and Stroke Mimics Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— In the prehospital setting, copeptin is neither appropriate to discriminate between stroke and stroke mimic patients nor between vascular and nonvascular patients. Clinical Trial Registration— URL: http://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Unique identifier: NCT01382862. The Pre-Hospital Acute Neurological Therapy and Optimization of Medical Care in Stroke Patients study (PHANTOM-S) was registered (NCT01382862). This sub-study was observational and not registered separately, therefore.

Long-Term Exposure to Particulate Matter Air Pollution Is a Risk Factor for Stroke: Meta-Analytical Evidence Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— The scientific evidence of the past decade identifies long-term exposure to PM, and PM2.5 in particular, as a risk factor for stroke. However, we found some currently unexplained geographical variability in this association.
