Long-term Outcomes of Concomitant Surgical Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation
CONCLUSIONS: Concomitant atrial fibrillation ablation during cardiac surgery is safe, does not increase the rate of perioperative complications, and confers the benefit of long-term survival after cardiac surgery in adults. Surgical Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation During Aortic and Mitral Valve Surgery: A Nationwide Population-Based Cohort Study
There is limited evidence on the effectiveness of surgical AF ablation in reducing mortality or thromboembolic events during aortic/mitral valve (AV/MV) surgery. We evaluated the association of surgical ablation vs. no-ablation with risks of all-cause death and ischemic stroke or systemic embolization (SE) among patients with preoperative atrial fibrillation (AF) undergoing concomitant AV or MV surgery.

Impact of Procedure Volume on the Outcomes of Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement
CONCLUSION: Patients treated in very low volume centers (≤25 operations/year) had a similar risk regarding in-hospital mortality and most complications compared with very high-volume centers (>100 operations/year). Only in the case of acute kidney injury, very high-volume centers showed better outcomes than very low volume centers.
