Ischaemic stroke after ST-elevation myocardial infarction
Clinical introduction A 67-year-old Hispanic man presented with 5-h history of typical chest pain and an ECG consistent with inferior ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Coronary angiography revealed an occluded proximal right coronary artery, and a percutaneous intervention with drug eluting stent was performed. He was started on aspirin and clopidogrel. Acute Myocardial Infarction and Acute Stroke: Between a Rock and a Hard Place
A 53year-old woman developed severe chest pain, breathlessness and palpitations whilst being told some very devastating news. As the symptoms persisted for more than 15minutes, electrocardiography was undertaken in the community confirming an anterolateral STEMI. Following the electrocardiographic findings the patient was loaded orally in the community with aspirin 300mg and clopidogrel 600mg and was urgently transferred via the community activation primary PCI route to our institution for emergency coronary angiography.

Recurrent Intra-Luminal Aortic Thrombus And Ischemic Stroke In A Patient With Essential Thrombocythemia (P6.262)
CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights the importance of recognizing essential thrombocythemia as an entity that can lead to devastating complications, including acute coronary syndrome and either arterial and venous thrombosis. Early recognition and effective cytoreductive therapy are cornerstones to the prevention of recurrent embolism. This case demonstrates that Intra-luminal thrombus may resolve and reappear, and can vary greatly in its clinical consequences.Disclosure: Dr. Vela-Duarte has nothing to disclose.
