Summary: International Kidney Cancer Symposium
Conclusions:  Ideal ischemia time is 20-25 minutes or less improves short and long term renal function.  >25 minutes carried 5 year risk of new onset stage 4 CKD No differences on GFR for cold vs. warm ischemia times Preoperative GFR and the percent of kidney preserved was a better predictor of post op GFR.  No ischemia preserves renal function better than warm. Longer cold ischemia times were equivalent to shorter warm ischemia times. Quality and quantity of the remaining kidney is associated with ultimate renal function. Connecting Metainflammation and Neuroinflammation Through the PTN-MK-RPTP β/ζ Axis: Relevance in Therapeutic Development
Conclusion The expression of the components of the PTN-MK-RPTPβ/ζ axis in immune cells and in inflammatory diseases suggests important roles for this axis in inflammation. Pleiotrophin has been recently identified as a limiting factor of metainflammation, a chronic pathological state that contributes to neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration. Pleiotrophin also seems to potentiate acute neuroinflammation independently of the inflammatory stimulus while MK seems to play different -even opposite- roles in acute neuroinflammation depending on the stimulus. Which are the functions of MK and PTN in chronic neuroi...

Function of selected natural antidiabetic compounds with potential against cancer via modulation of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR cascade
Biomed Pharmacother. 2021 Nov 5:112138. doi: 10.1016/j.biopha.2021.112138. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDiabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder with growing global incidence, as 387 million people were diagnosed in 2014 with an expected projection of 642 million in 2040. Several complications are associated with DM including heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, blindness, and cancer. The latter is the second leading cause of death worldwide accounting for one in every six deaths, with liver, pancreas, and endometrium cancers are the most abundant among patients with diabetes. Phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/prote...
