Influence of continuous positive airway pressure treatment on auditory event-related potentials p300
Acta Clin Croat. 2022 Nov;61(3):373-378. doi: 10.20471/acc.2022.61.03.01.ABSTRACTObstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a sleep-related breathing disorder characterized by obstructions of the upper airway during sleep, resulting in repetitive breathing pauses accompanied by oxygen desaturation and arousal from sleep. OSA can be successfully treated with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), weight loss, positional therapy, oral appliances, hypoglossal nerve stimulation, and surgical procedures. It has been observed that untreated OSA is related to chronic disorders including hypertension, arrhythmias, congestive heart fail...

Why You Shouldn ’t Exercise to Lose Weight
Many of us are lacing up our sneakers and starting (or restarting) exercise regimens in hopes of shedding unwanted pounds. Unquestionably, aiming to be more active is a good thing. But if the main reason is to lose weight, your New Year’s resolution could very well backfire.
For starters, exercise—at least the kind most of us do—is typically ineffective for weight loss. Take walking, for example. A 150-pound person who walks briskly for 30 minutes will burn, on average, around 140 calories. That’s equal to one can of soda—not exactly a great return on your investment of time and effort. Hepatic-Metabolite-Based Intermittent Fasting Enables a Sustained
Reduction in Insulin Resistance in Type 2 Diabetes and Metabolic
Syndrome
Horm Metab Res DOI: 10.1055/a-1510-8896Insulin resistance is the hallmark of Type 2 Diabetes and is still an unmet
medical need. Insulin resistance lies at the crossroads of non-alcoholic fatty
liver disease, obesity, weight loss and exercise resistance, heart disease,
stroke, depression, and brain health. Insulin resistance is purely nutrition
related, with a typical molecular disease food intake pattern. The insulin
resistant state is accessible by TyG as the appropriate surrogate marker, which
is found to lead the personalized molecular hepatic nutrition system for highly
efficient ins...

O27 Frailty and co-morbidity in people with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
Conclusion Co-morbidity is associated with an increased occurrence of pre-frailty and frailty among people with OA and RA and interacts synergistically with OA and RA to increase the likelihood of pre-frailty and frailty.Disclosure M.J. Progressive ataxia and cognitive decline in a 67-year-old male: a diagnostic challenge.
We report the case of a 67-year-old male who presented with a six-week history of progressive unsteadiness, cognitive impairment and weight loss, in the context of a recent bereavement. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) performed several weeks earlier excluded acute stroke. Examination revealed gross bilateral ataxia, bradyphrenia and physical manifestations of depression. Collateral history suggested rapidly progressing symptoms over three months. Repeat MRI head showed features suggestive of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) including T2 hyperintensities in the basal ganglia. Cerebrospinal ˜fluid (CSF) samples were positiv...
