Validation of Biomarker-Based ABCD Score in Atrial Fibrillation Patients with a Non-Gender CHA < sub > 2 < /sub > DS < sub > 2 < /sub > -VASc Score 0-1: A Korean Multi-Center Cohort
CONCLUSION: The biomarker-based ABCD score demonstrated improved stroke risk stratification in AF patients with non-gender CHA2DS2-VASc score 0-1. Furthermore, NOAC with an ABCD score ≥1 was associated with significantly lower stroke rate in AF patients with non-gender CHA2DS2-VASc score 0-1.PMID:36168241 | PMC:PMC9520051 | DOI:10.3349/ymj.2022.0157

Wernicke Encephalopathy Mimicking MELAS
CONCLUSIONS: the case suggests that thiamine deficiency presumably causes mitochondrial dysfunction with cerebrospinal fluid lactic acidosis and a stroke-like lesion mimicking MELAS syndrome. It should be further studied whether nutritional deficits, such as thiamine deficiency, could give rise to secondary stroke-like lesions.PMID:35630076 | PMC:PMC9144475 | DOI:10.3390/medicina58050660
