Dairy consumption and mortality after myocardial infarction: a prospective analysis in the Alpha Omega Cohort
CONCLUSIONS: In Dutch post-MI patients, yogurt consumption was inversely associated with CVD mortality and all-cause mortality. Serial measures of circulating biomarkers of dairy fat and total and cause-specific mortality in older adults: the Cardiovascular Health Study.
Conclusions: Long-term exposure to circulating phospholipid pentadecanoic, heptadecanoic, or trans-palmitoleic acids was not significantly associated with total mortality or incident CVD among older adults. High circulating heptadecanoic acid was inversely associated with CVD and stroke mortality and potentially associated with higher risk of non-CVD death. In conclusion, the nutritional values of dairy products should not be considered equivalent to their nutrient contents but, rather, be considered on the basis of the biofunctionality of the nutrients within dairy food structures. 6) Further research on the health effects of whole dairy foods is warranted alongside the more traditional approach of studying the health effects of single nutrients. Dairy fat and risk of cardiovascular disease in 3 cohorts of US adults.
