Recurrent floating common carotid artery thrombus related to COVID-19: A case report
We describe the case of a 54-year-old man who developed, one week after the onset symptomatology of related to COVID-19 infection, an ischemic stroke, complicating a large intraluminal floating thrombus in the left common carotid artery. Despite surgery and anticoagulation, a local recurrence with other thrombotic complications occurred and the patient died.PMID:37120269 | PMC:PMC9826990 | DOI:10.1016/j.jdmv.2023.01.001

There is urgent need to treat atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk earlier, more intensively, and with greater precision: A review of current practice and recommendations for improved effectiveness
Am J Prev Cardiol. 2022 Aug 6;12:100371. doi: 10.1016/j.ajpc.2022.100371. eCollection 2022 Dec.ABSTRACTAtherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) is epidemic throughout the world and is etiologic for such acute cardiovascular events as myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, unstable angina, and death. ASCVD also impacts risk for dementia, chronic kidney disease peripheral arterial disease and mobility, impaired sexual response, and a host of other visceral impairments that adversely impact the quality and rate of progression of aging. The relationship between low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and risk for AS...

A likelihood swarm whale optimization based LeNet classifier approach for the prediction and diagnosis of patients with atherosclerosis disease
Comput Methods Biomech Biomed Engin. 2022 Sep 1:1-12. doi: 10.1080/10255842.2022.2116577. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCoronary Artery Disease (CAD) caused by atherosclerosis is having huge impact and is considered an epidemic one in all over the world. Cardio vascular disease (CVD) in 2019 records is about 32% of global death rate. Among these deaths, 85% were caused by heart attack and stroke. Atherosclerosis is regarded as a condition at which the arteries become hardened and narrowed due to the plaque accumulation around the walls of arteries. The disease growth is slow, asymptomatic, sudden cardiac arrest, myocardial...

Endothelial Cell CD36 Reduces Atherosclerosis and Controls Systemic Metabolism
Front Cardiovasc Med. 2021 Nov 23;8:768481. doi: 10.3389/fcvm.2021.768481. eCollection 2021.ABSTRACTHigh-fat Western diets contribute to tissue dysregulation of fatty acid and glucose intake, resulting in obesity and insulin resistance and their sequelae, including atherosclerosis. New therapies are desperately needed to interrupt this epidemic. The significant idea driving this research is that the understudied regulation of fatty acid entry into tissues at the endothelial cell (EC) interface can provide novel therapeutic targets that will greatly modify health outcomes and advance health-related knowledge. Dysfunctional ...
