Impact of Global Geographic Region on Time in Therapeutic Range on Warfarin Anticoagulant Therapy: Data From the ROCKET AF Clinical Trial Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology
Conclusions Independent of patient clinical features, the regional location of medical care is a dominant determinant of variation in i-TTR in global studies of warfarin. Regional differences in mean i-TTR are heavily influenced by subtherapeutic INR values and are associated with reduced frequency of INR testing. Clinical Trial Registration URL: ClinicalTrials.gov. Unique identifier: NCT00403767.

Dynamic TIMI Risk Score for STEMI Coronary Heart Disease
Conclusions This score is a prospectively derived, validated means of estimating 1-year mortality of STEMI at hospital discharge and can serve as a clinically useful tool. By incorporating events during the index hospitalization, it can better define risk and help to guide treatment decisions.

Sex-Specific Differences in the Predictive Value of Cholesterol Homeostasis Markers and 10-Year Cardiovascular Disease Event Rate in Framingham Offspring Study Participants Coronary Heart Disease
Conclusions These data suggest significant sex differences in the 10-year prognostic value of cholesterol synthesis markers and HCHD, specifically coronary death and incidence of myocardial infarction. Clinical Trial Registration URL:http://ClinicalTrials.gov. Unique identifier: NCT00074464.

The Value of Carotid Artery Plaque and Intima-Media Thickness for Incident Cardiovascular Disease: The Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis Epidemiology
Conclusion Ultrasound-derived plaque metrics independently predict cardiovascular events in our cohort and improve risk prediction for CHD events when added to Framingham risk factors.

Hostility, Health Behaviors, and Risk of Recurrent Events in Patients With Stable Coronary Heart Disease: Findings From the Heart and Soul Study Epidemiology
Conclusions Hostility was a significant predictor of secondary events in this sample of outpatients with baseline stable CHD. Much of this association was moderated by poor health behaviors, specifically physical inactivity and smoking.

Atrial Fibrillation Patterns and Risks of Subsequent Stroke, Heart Failure, or Death in the Community Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology
Conclusions In our community-based AF sample, only 10% had AF without early-term (2-year) recurrence. Compared with individuals without 2-year AF recurrences, the 10-year prognosis was worse for individuals with either sustained or recurrent AF. Our proposed AF classification algorithm may be applicable in longitudinal datas ets.

Peripheral Endothelial Function and Cardiovascular Events in High-Risk Patients Vascular Medicine
Conclusions Advanced endothelial dysfunction significantly correlated with near future cardiovascular events in high-risk patients. This physiological vascular measurement improved risk discrimination when added to the FRS, BNP, and SYNTAXsc. Clinical Trial Registration URL: clinicaltrials.gov (http://www.clinicaltrials.gov). Unique identifier: NCT00737945.

Circulating and Dietary Omega-3 and Omega-6 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids and Incidence of CVD in the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis Epidemiology
Conclusions Both dietary and circulating eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid, but not alpha-linolenic acid or n-6 PUFA, were inversely associated with CVD incidence. These findings suggest that increased consumption of n-3 PUFA from seafood may prevent CVD development in a multiethnic population.

Cardiovascular and Mortality Risk of Apparent Resistant Hypertension in Women With Suspected Myocardial Ischemia: A Report From the NHLBI-Sponsored WISE Study Hypertension
Conclusions In this cohort of women with evidence of ischemia, aTRH was associated with a profoundly increased long-term risk of major adverse events, including death, that emerged early during follow-up.

Long-term Cardiovascular Risks Associated With an Elevated Heart Rate: The Framingham Heart Study Epidemiology
Conclusions Individuals with a higher heart rate are at elevated long-term risk for cardiovascular events, in particular, heart failure, and all-cause death. On the other hand, a higher heart rate is associated with a lower risk of future permanent pacemaker implantation.
