Abstract 144: Cost of Cardiovascular Disease Episodes among Patients with Hypertension Session Title: Poster Session I
Conclusions: Cost estimates of CVD episodes among hypertensive patients are consistent with results from the scarce literature in this area. Moreover, our study finds evidence of increased medical resource utilization weeks before the recording of the CVD episode. Omitting these pre-event costs leads to an underestimate of the true costs of CVD.

Abstract 146: Clinical and Economic Consequences of Statin Intolerance in the U.S.: Results from an Integrated Health System Session Title: Poster Session I
Conclusion: While the majority of SI patients were on a statin, SI patients demonstrate a higher risk of some cardiovascular events; incur higher healthcare costs; and difficulty reaching LDL-C goals compared to patients without SI. Alternative treatment strategies are needed to better serve this at-risk patient population.

Abstract 203: Community Based Outpatient Stroke Rehabilitation Program Achieves Excellent Outcomes Including Return to Work, Driving, Improved Blood Pressure Control, and Other Rehabilitation Outcomes Session Title: Poster Session II
Conclusions: Participants in our interdisciplinary community-based rehabilitation program demonstrated improvements in stroke knowledge, physical function, blood pressure control, and mood, while also returning to work, driving, and participation in the community. Comparative research and multi-site studies are needed.

Abstract 206: Aiming to Improve Stroke Care Continuity with Primary Care Follow-up Appointments Scheduled Prior to Hospital Discharge Session Title: Poster Session II
Conclusions: Hospital performance with scheduling primary care follow-up appointments improved significantly; however, only 1 in 4 patients had an appointment scheduled prior to discharge. Case study analysis of missed opportunities may help identify barriers and facilitators associated with access, availability, and awareness that can be addressed in future improvement cycles.

Abstract 245: Cost Effectiveness and Safety of Abbreviated Eptifibatide Infusion in Veterans Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Session Title: Poster Session II
Conclusion: In this real world cohort of patients undergoing PCI, an abbreviated 2 hour eptifibatide infusion after PCI was safe and had a cost savings of greater than 50% per patient, when compared with a standard 18 hour infusion. This approach is more cost-effective and should be considered in patients undergoing PCI who are not pretreated with dual antiplatelet therapy.

Abstract 250: Real-world Rates and Costs of Heart Failure Events Among Patients with Hyperlipidemia Session Title: Poster Session II
Conclusions: The rate and recurrence of heart failure among hyperlipidemic patients is very high and the long term healthcare costs substantial in this real-world 2-year study.

Abstract 263: Incidence of Recurrent Cardiovascular Events and Disease Burden Among High-Risk Patients with Hyperlipidemia Session Title: Poster Session II
Conclusions: CV event-related risk and long-term costs are significantly greater among high-risk patients with shorter time intervals between recurrent CV events. Underutilization of LLTs in these patients highlights the need for improving clinical management and treatment options for these patients.

Abstract 372: Health Outcomes Associated With Triple Antiplatelet Therapy for the Secondary Prevention of Atherothrombotic Events Session Title: Poster Session III
Vorapaxar is a protease-activated receptor-1 (PAR-1) antagonist indicated for the reduction of atherothrombotic cardiovascular (CV) events in patients with a history of myocardial infarction (MI) or with peripheral arterial disease (PAD), based on the findings of the TRA 2°P-TIMI 50 trial for patients without a history of stroke or transient ischemic attack. This analysis evaluated the health outcomes of triple antiplatelet therapy with vorapaxar when added to a standard care regimen of clopidogrel plus aspirin (ASA) in comparison with standard care alone, for patients without a history of transient ischemic attack or ...

Abstract 305: The Accuracy of Profiling Methods to Identify Hospital Outliers for Ischemic Stroke Mortality in the Presence of Missing Data: Effect of Hospital Volume Session Title: Poster Session III
Conclusions: Reductions in sample size when using a complete case analysis in the presence of missing data have a dramatic effect on correctly identifying performance outliers, especially in lower case volumes. Limitations to identifying ischemic stroke performance mortality outliers - even with complete NIHSS documentation - should be appreciated.

Abstract 307: Gender Differences in Recurrent Cardiovascular Events Among High-risk Patients With Hyperlipidemia Session Title: Poster Session III
Conclusions: Among high-risk patients (i.e. history of CV events) enrolled in US health plans, women were more likely to have a subsequent CV event and multiple CV events sooner than men. Further research is needed to ascertain whether the gender differences might reflect differences in the intensity of treatment for hyperlipidemia between men and women.
