Abstract 269: Do Transferred-In Patients Have Longer Lengths of Stay at a Stroke Center? Session Title: Poster Session PM
Conclusion: While LOS for patients discharged to SNF was not significantly different between those transferred as compared to those who directly present to our CSC, discharges to ARF were significantly longer among those who were transferred to our CSC. Future efforts should be made to examine potential reasons for prolonged LOS among this group of patients.

Clinical Outcomes of Plavix and Generic Clopidogrel for Patients Hospitalized With an Acute Coronary Syndrome Original Articles
Conclusions: Generic clopidogrel was noninferior to Plavix with respect to the composite end point of death and recurrent hospitalization for ACS at 1 year among adults >65 years after an ACS hospitalization. Our findings support generic clopidogrel in ACS, which could lead to substantial healthcare cost savings.

Efficacy of a Chronic Care-Based Intervention on Secondary Stroke Prevention Among Vulnerable Stroke Survivors: A Randomized Controlled Trial Original Articles
Conclusions This intervention did not improve SBP control beyond that attained in usual care among vulnerable stroke survivors. A community-centered component could strengthen the intervention impact. Clinical Trial Registration URL: https://clinicaltrials.gov. Unique identifier: NCT00861081.

Is Risk-Standardized In-Hospital Stroke Mortality an Adequate Proxy for Risk-Standardized 30-Day Stroke Mortality Data?: Findings From Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Original Articles
Conclusions— When used to identify outlier hospitals with high or low mortality, the agreement between risk-standardized in-hospital mortality and 30-day mortality was modest. However, the combined outcome of in-hospital mortality or discharge to hospice showed much better agreement with 30-day mortality. This composite outcome could serve as a proxy for 30-day mortality when used to identify low- or high-performing hospitals.

Development and Validation of Electronic Quality Measures to Assess Care for Patients With Transient Ischemic Attack and Minor Ischemic Stroke Original Articles
Conclusions— It is feasible to construct valid eQMs for processes of transient ischemic attack and minor ischemic stroke care. Healthcare systems with EHRs should consider using electronic data to evaluate care for their patients with transient ischemic attack and to complement and expand quality measurement programs currently focused on patients with stroke.

Regional Variation in 30-Day Ischemic Stroke Outcomes for Medicare Beneficiaries Treated in Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Hospitals Original Articles
Conclusions— Thirty-day mortality and readmission rates vary substantially across HRRs and exhibit an inverse relationship. While regional variation in 30-day outcomes were explained by patient and hospital factors differently, much of the regional variation in both outcomes remains unexplained.

Impact of Ezetimibe on the Rate of Cardiovascular-Related Hospitalizations and Associated Costs Among Patients With a Recent Acute Coronary Syndrome: Results From the IMPROVE-IT Trial (Improved Reduction of Outcomes: Vytorin Efficacy International Trial) Original Articles
Conclusions— Addition of ezetimibe to statin therapy in patients with a recent acute coronary syndrome leads to reductions in cardiovascular-related hospitalizations and associated costs, with the greatest cost offsets in high-risk patients. These cost reductions may completely offset the cost of the drug once ezetimibe becomes generic, and may lead to cost savings from the perspective of the healthcare system, if treatment with ezetimibe is targeted to high-risk patients. Abstract 009: The Impact of Participation in a Telestroke Network on In-hospital Mortality in Georgia Session Title: Abstract Oral Session: General
Conclusions: Acute ischemic stroke patients admitted in hospitals participating in a telestroke program had a more pronounced reduction in in-hospital mortality. However, telestroke coverage did not alter the effect of nighttime admission on in-hospital mortality.

Abstract 054: Mortality Decline After Ischemic Stroke-the Medicare Cohort From 2009 to 2013 Session Title: Poster Session I
Conclusion: The one-year mortality among Medicare beneficiaries after ischemic stroke hospitalization showed a dramatic decline from 2009 to 2013. Further study is needed to determine whether this is attributable to the change of stroke system of care in the past decade.
