Usefulness of EEG-EMG coherence analysis to confirm epileptic nature of spells mimicking hemifacial spasms
We report the utility of EEG-EMG coherence analysis to confirm the epileptic nature of these spells in a patient with a minor pre-rolandic stroke.

Adult onset ictal aphasia with epileptic discharges in Broca’s and Wernicke’s areas
Aphasia can sometimes present with epileptic seizures, especially in temporal lobe epilepsy affecting the dominant hemisphere. Child-onset epilepsy with aphasia is known as Landau-Kleffner Syndrome (Caraballo et al., 2014), whereas adult-onset epilepsy presenting with aphasia is quite rare, as aphasia more often presents with stroke in adult patients. Here we describe a patient with adult-onset epilepsy exhibiting ictal aphasia, and whose epileptic discharges were detected by magnetoencephalography (MEG) in the motor and sensory speech areas.

1. Epileptic seizures in pediatric stroke: Data from the Italian Registry for Childhood Thrombosis
According to data from the Italian Registry for Childhood Thrombosis (R.I.T.I.), in about half cases diagnosis of pediatric stroke occurs after 24h from clinical onset (Baggio et al., SINP2013). The aim of the present study was to evaluate the frequency of seizures at stroke onset and their correlation with time to diagnosis in the pediatric stroke patients in the R.I.T.I. We selected the R.I.T.I. children with first acute arterial (AIS) or venous (CSVT) cerebral infarction occurring between January 2007 and June 2012; we studied prevalence, characteristics and recurrence of epileptic seizures, focusing on diagnostic delay.

7. Convulsive and non-convulsive seizures observed from aging mice following brian ischemia episodes
Conclusions: The early-onset seizures result from severe cerebral ischemia and brain injury. Generation of the convulsive seizures may involve deeper sub-cortical structures particularly the brainstem, and the non-convulsive EEG discharges may originate from the hippocampus. Our data may help understanding genesis of post-stroke seizures in the aging/aged population.

We report results of MEPs, EEG, and motor behavior. We show, for the first time, that tDCS and EEG recording can be concurrently applied in stroke patients. 4. ICU EEG study
This study suggests that long-term EEG monitoring in an unselected ICU population rarely influences treatment or outcome. In a selected population with known epilepsy the benefit may be larger.
