Initial experience with transcarotid arterial revascularization with flow reversal in the management of symptomatic carotid stenosis
CONCLUSIONS: The authors' initial experience with TCAR suggests that it might provide an effective alternative to carotid endarterectomy and carotid artery stenting in the management of symptomatic carotid stenosis in patients with high-risk anatomical and medical characteristics.PMID:37029678 | DOI:10.3171/2023.2.JNS222377

Long-term functional independence after minimally invasive endoscopic intracerebral hemorrhage evacuation
CONCLUSIONS: In a single-center minimally invasive endoscopic ICH evacuation cohort, NIHSS score on presentation, lack of IVH, and shorter time to evacuation were independently associated with functional independence at 6 months. Factors associated with functional independence may help to better predict populations suitable for minimally invasive endoscopic evacuation and guide protocols for future clinical trials.PMID:35561694 | DOI:10.3171/2022.3.JNS22286

Direct carotid puncture for mechanical thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke patients with prohibitive vascular access.
CONCLUSIONS: DCP for emergency MT in patients with anterior circulation AIS-LVO and prohibitive vascular access is safe and effective and is associated with higher recanalization rates, smaller infarct volumes, and improved functional outcome compared with patients with abMT after failed transfemoral access. DCP should be considered in this patient population. PMID: 32796146 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

"Strokenomics": bending the cost curve in stroke care.
CONCLUSIONS: Purchasing devices through a bundled model resulted in substantial cost savings while maintaining the therapeutic efficacy of the procedure, further pushing the already beneficial long-term cost-benefit curve in favor of thrombectomy. PMID: 31978888 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Postoperative hemorrhage during the acute phase after direct or combined revascularization for moyamoya disease: risk factors, prognosis, and literature review.
CONCLUSIONS: Preoperative hypertension, CTP stage > III, and posterior circulation involvement are independent risk factors for postoperative ICH after direct or combined revascularization for MMD. After appropriate perioperative management, postoperative ICH has no significant correlations with the postoperative short-term and long-term neurofunctional status.
