Psychometric properties of the Chinese-version Stroke and Aphasia Quality of Life Scale 39-generic version (SAQOL-39g).
CONCLUSIONS: The Chinese-version SAQOL-39g has excellent reliability, validity, and feasibility for measuring the QOL of Chinese post-stroke aphasia patients. The consistency between self-report and proxy-report forms was good, implying that the proxy-report form can be used to assess the QOL of post-stroke aphasia patients. Prevalence of suicidal ideation among stroke survivors: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Conclusions: This meta-analysis suggests a high prevalence of SI among stroke survivors. Routine screening of SI after stroke is needed to plan interventions aimed at reducing suicide risk. PMID: 33186090 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Activities of daily living and life satisfaction of persons with stroke after rehabilitation in China: a longitudinal descriptive study.
CONCLUSIONS: Functional independence in ADLs increased within 3 years after discharge from rehabilitation, while life satisfaction was reported low and constant. Life satisfaction was predicted by severity of stroke, marital status, and return back to work at 1 year post discharge and by disability at 3 years post discharge. Stigma experienced by Chinese patients with stroke during inpatient rehabilitation and its correlated factors: a cross-sectional study.
CONCLUSIONS: Stigma was moderate, and internalized stigma may be more apparent; therefore, physicians should pay more attention to patients who report or show signs of experiencing stroke-related stigma. PMID: 31104577 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Factors associated with quality of life early after ischemic stroke: the role of resilience.
DISCUSSION: Resilience was an independent predictor of quality of life beyond anxiety and depression in patients with ischemic stroke. Interventions aimed at improving resilience at acute hospitalization might be a worthwhile addition to improve quality of life early after stroke. PMID: 30957683 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Electroacupuncture with rehabilitation training for limb spasticity reduction in post-stroke patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
CONCLUSION: EA with rehabilitation training could be a good strategy for reducing limb spasticity after stroke and is better than EA alone or rehabilitation training alone. However, its effectiveness remains to be further verified by large-sample and high-quality RCTs. PMID: 32845210 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Family resilience and its predictors among patients with a first-ever stroke one month after stroke: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSION: Family resilience was low among stroke patients one month after the onset. Special attention should be paid to families of patients who were divorced, cared for by siblings, or have low social support or self-efficacy in managing stroke. Further research on family-based interventions may focus on increasing patient social support and promoting their self-efficacy in managing stroke.PMID:36602132 | DOI:10.1080/10749357.2023.2165270
