In ‐hospital outcomes of transcatheter versus surgical aortic valve replacement in non‐teaching hospitals
ConclusionsTAVR conferred similar in ‐hospital mortality and major peri‐procedural complications compared with SAVR in non‐teaching hospitals. For those with limited access to teaching hospitals, non‐teaching hospitals appear to be a reasonable option for candidates of aortic valve replacement for severe aortic stenosis.

Comparison of single versus dual antiplatelet therapy after TAVR: A systematic review and meta ‐analysis
ConclusionIn this small meta‐analysis of DAPT versus SAPT after TAVR, DAPT did not prevent stroke, myocardial infarction or death while the risk of bleeding was higher. Results from ongoing trials are awaited to determine the best anti‐thrombotic approach after TAVR.

Transcatheter versus surgical aortic valve replacement in patients at low surgical risk: A meta ‐analysis of randomized trials and propensity score matched observational studies
ConclusionsIn patients who are at low surgical risk, TAVR seems to be associated with increased mortality risk. Until more data in this population is available, SAVR should remain the treatment of choice for these patients.

Clinical and procedural outcomes with the SAPIEN 3 versus the SAPIEN XT prosthetic valves in transcatheter aortic valve replacement: A systematic review and meta ‐analysis
ConclusionsPatients receiving the S3V had lower risk of PVL, MVC, bleeding, mortality, and stroke. PPI was somewhat higher in the S3V group. S3V implantation was faster and used less contrast.

Impact of flow, gradient, and left ventricular function on outcomes after transcatheter aortic valve replacement
ConclusionsIn patients undergoing TAVR, low flow was an independent predictor of 1‐year mortality and HF, and a stronger predictor than either low AVG or LVEF. Patients with low flow and preserved EF had increased mortality and HF at 1‐year, while those with low flow and reduced EF had outcomes similar to patients with normal flow.

Comparative outcomes of transcatheter aortic valve replacement in African American and Caucasian patients with severe aortic stenosis
ConclusionsThere was no significant difference in the utilization rates, in‐hospital outcomes, and cost of TAVR between Caucasians and AA patients in contemporary US practice. Further comparative studies of surgical and TAVR in AAs and other racial minorities are warranted.

Comparison of local versus general anesthesia in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement: A meta ‐analysis
ConclusionOur meta‐analysis suggests that use of LA for TAVR is associated with a lower 30‐day mortality, shorter procedure time, fluoroscopy time, ICU LOS, hospital length of stay, and reduced need for inotropic support.

Impact of pre ‐existing or new‐onset atrial fibrillation on 30‐day clinical outcomes following Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: Results From The BRAVO 3 Randomized Trial
Conclusions: Prior or new‐onset AF within 30 days of transfemoral TAVR is noted in more than one‐third of patients. Despite greater baseline comorbidities than non‐AF patients, AF was not associated with greater risk of adjusted 30‐day outcomes. In the BRAVO 3 trial, early outcomes were similar regardless of anticoagulant strategy in each group. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

Transcatheter versus surgical aortic valve replacement in intermediate ‐risk patients: Evidence from a meta‐analysis
ConclusionsOur analysis of mid‐term results showed that TAVR has similar clinical efficacy to SAVR in intermediate‐risk patients with severe AS, and can be a suitable alternative to surgical valve replacement. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

End ‐stage renal disease and severe aortic stenosis: Does valve replacement improve one‐year outcomes?
ConclusionsPatients with ESRD and severe AS have a similar and higher survival with TAVR or SAVR when compared to BAV at 1‐year. These results may influence patient care decisions favoring valve replacement in AS patients with ESRD. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Thrombotic valvular dysfunction with transcatheter mitral interventions for postsurgical failures
ConclusionThrombotic related dysfunction post‐TMVR occurred in 15% (2/13) of patients and one patient had abnormal leaflet thickening that may have been thrombus related. Dual‐antiplatelet therapy was used in all 3 cases suggesting the possible need for oral anticoagulation postmitral valve‐in‐valve therapy. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Procedural and 30 ‐day clinical outcomes following transcatheter aortic valve replacement with lotus valve: Results of the RELEVANT study
ConclusionsRELEVANT study showed that TAVR using Lotus, in a real‐world population of patients with severe aortic stenosis at high surgical risk, was associated with excellent device success implantation and early safety according to VARC‐2 definition. The pacemaker implantation rate was about a third of patients. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
