Stroke-induced hexokinase 2 in circulating monocytes exacerbates vascular inflammation and atheroprogression
CONCLUSIONS: Stroke-induced monocyte Hk2 upregulation is a key mechanism underlying post-stroke vascular inflammation and atheroprogression.PMID:36893911 | DOI:10.1016/j.jtha.2023.02.021

Pharmacological targeting of coagulation factor XI mitigates the development of experimental atherosclerosis in low-density lipoprotein receptor-deficient mice.
CONCLUSION: Pharmacological targeting of FXI reduced atherogenesis in Ldlr-/- mice. Interference with the contact activation system may safely reduce development or progression of atherosclerosis. PMID: 33421301 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Platelet Indices and Risk of Death and Cardiovascular Events: Results from a Large Population-Based Cohort Study.
In conclusion, elevated platelet count is associated with higher mortality and risk of CV events, regardless of previous MI and stroke. Platelet count may thus be a useful marker for further stratification of CV risk, and especially of death. PMID: 31430798 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
