Frequency and predictors of poststroke epilepsy after mechanical thrombectomy for large vessel occlusion stroke: results from a multicenter cohort study
ConclusionIn our study, patients with large vessel occlusion stroke receiving MT had a 9% prevalence of PSE over a median follow-up period of 6.5  years. Besides larger infarct size, presence of cerebral microbleeds on brain MRI predicted PSE occurrence.

Epileptic seizures in the emergency room: clinical and electroencephalographic findings associated with brain perfusion patterns on computed tomography
ConclusionsIn acute settings, detection by visual analysis of focal cerebral cortical hyperperfusion on pCT in patients with epileptic seizures, especially if accompanied by the highly specific feature of thalamic hyperperfusion, is suggestive of a diagnosis of SE and requires clinical and EEG confirmation. The absence of focal hyperperfusion makes a diagnosis of SE unlikely.

Acute symptomatic seizures in the emergency room: predictors and characteristics
ConclusionsIn one quarter of patients presenting to the ER after an epileptic fit, the seizure had an acute symptomatic genesis. The independently associated variables may help to early identify ASS and initiate management of the underlying condition.

Neurological manifestations of patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2: a systematic review of the literature
ConclusionThis updated review of literature, shows that headache, skeletal muscle injury, psychiatric disorders, impaired consciousness, and gustatory/olfactory dysfunction were the most common neurological symptoms of COVID-19 patients. Impaired consciousness and acute cerebrovascular events were significantly higher among patients with a severe infection. AIS patients required ICU admission in 63% of cases, while intra-hospital mortality rate was close to 23%.

Contribution of nuclear and mitochondrial gene mutations in mitochondrial encephalopathy, lactic acidosis, and stroke-like episodes (MELAS) syndrome
ConclusionIndividuals with MELAS exhibit clinical phenotypes with varying degree of severity affecting multiple systems including auditory, visual, cardiovascular, endocrine, and nervous system. Investigation of poststroke epilepsy (INPOSE) study: a multicenter prospective study for prediction of poststroke epilepsy
ConclusionsPoststroke epilepsy occurs in almost 6% of patients within 3  years after stroke onset. Hemorrhagic stroke and subcortical lesion appear to be significantly associated with likelihood of developing epilepsy. Thus, prophylactic administration of antiepileptic drugs could be useful for stroke patients with these two risk factors.

Predisposing and precipitating factors for delirium in neurology: a prospective cohort study of 1487 patients
ConclusionsDelirium is common in elder neurological patients and associated with worse outcome. Primary cerebral conditions most frequently precipitate delirium in neurology. Neurologists are advised to monitor symptoms of delirium in the presence of risk factors to enable both timely diagnostic work-up and management of delirium.

Perfusion-CT imaging in epileptic seizures
ConclusionIn patients with acute epileptic seizures, regional hyperperfusion on PCT may suggest an ongoing or recently resolved SE, whereas hypoperfusion may be due to post-ictal state or simultaneous AIS. These observations might help attributing focal deficits to epileptic seizures rather than stroke, allowing for targeted therapy.

Thalamic transitory ischemic attacks presenting as Jacksonian sensory march
We report on three cases in which these symptoms were caused by thalamic ischemia. Two patients presented with stereotypically recurring hemiparesthesias lasting 2 –5 min that gradually spread from the face to the arm and leg on one side. A first cerebral magnetic resonance imaging including DWI was negative in both cases, whereas new thalamic infarctions appeared on repeated imaging when clinical symptoms remained. A third case with a thalamic ischemia did not show recurring events, but also presented with purely sensory spreading symptoms.
