Restless Limbs Syndrome (RLS) Presenting as Hemisyndrome: A Case of Dejerine-Roussy Syndrome Responsive to Dopamine Agonists (P5.266)
CONCLUSION: Recognition of RLS as a hemisyndrome may offer new treatments for patients with chronic dysesthetic pain, paresthesia, and insomnia as illustrated in this case of DRS. RLS affects 10% of the population and DRS is seen in 10% after thalamic stroke. Pain associated with RLS may be contributing to chronic, persistent pain in patients with certain CNS lesions and may be treatable with Dopamine Agonists.Disclosure: Dr. Dickoff has received personal compensation for activities with UCB Pharma and Teva pharmaceuticals as a speaker.

A Case of Perioperative Stroke Caused by Tumour Embolus. (P6.244)
CONCLUSIONS: Tumour embolism has previously been described with primary and secondary lung neoplasms, as well as cardiac tumours. Amusia: Unique Presentation of Stroke (P6.261)
CONCLUSIONS:Even though music and speech are similar in principle and execution they are functions of different hemispheres of the brain. Unlike aphasia, anatomical localization of amusia has not been established but it is known that right non dominant hemisphere is concerned with musical ability. Impairment of musical ability in the presence of intact speech can be the only presenting finding in stroke. Their identification is the key to early and appropriate treatment.Study Supported by:NoneDisclosure: Dr. Ramchandani has nothing to disclose. Dr. Alsmaan has nothing to disclose. Recurrent Intra-Luminal Aortic Thrombus And Ischemic Stroke In A Patient With Essential Thrombocythemia (P6.262)
CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights the importance of recognizing essential thrombocythemia as an entity that can lead to devastating complications, including acute coronary syndrome and either arterial and venous thrombosis. Early recognition and effective cytoreductive therapy are cornerstones to the prevention of recurrent embolism. This case demonstrates that Intra-luminal thrombus may resolve and reappear, and can vary greatly in its clinical consequences.Disclosure: Dr. Vela-Duarte has nothing to disclose. Uncomon Cause Stroke: Thalamic Stroke As Initial Presentation Of Dunnigan Familial Partial Lipodystrophy (FPLD) (P6.264)
We report a laminopathy case with no history of MS suffering strokeREPORT/CASEA Woman of 40 years old came to the stroke unit because of tingling in her right arm with acute onset. She suffers miscarriage twice. Her familial history reports a pseudocushingoid facies in a sister, a brother, some paternal uncles and her small daughter. She had no history of hypertension or diabetes.Neurological and general examination found pseudocushingoid facies, faciotroncular obesity, hirsutism, muscular hyperthrophy on upper body but amyotrophy of the lower part, proeminentes venous, a little adiposus tissue, acanthosis migrans on the n...

Medicare's New Two Midnight Rule for In-patient Status Admission Applied to Transient Ischemic Attack Patients Predicted by Hypertension History and Age (P6.275)
CONCLUSIONS:In our population of TIA patients, history of hypertension and age >70 years were the only baseline variables that significantly predicted LOS >2 days or 2 midnights. Our findings suggests that consideration of age and pre-existing hypertension may facilitate accurate prediction of patients who will exceed the 2 midnight Medicare rule and require in-patient admission versus observation status for TIA patients. Our findings require validation in a larger sample in a different population to determine generalizabilty.Study Supported by: Disclosure: Dr. Chavez-Keatts has nothing to disclose. Dr. Monlezun, ...

High Burden of Brain Microvascular Disease in Difficult-to-Control Hypertension (P6.276)

Analysis of Comorbidities in Ischemic Stroke Patients (P6.278)
CONCLUSIONS: The results indicate evidence of comorbid correlations with patients’ symptoms. A follow-up analysis using the Charlson comorbidity index will provide a method for classifying comorbidity. This will provide a simple, readily applicable and valid method of estimating risk of death from comorbidities in ischemic stroke for use in longitudinal studies and in outcomes research in ischemic stroke. This may provide a valid prognostic indicator for ischemic stroke.Study Supported by: GHSDisclosure: Dr. Cochran has nothing to disclose. Dr. Chaves has nothing to disclose. Incidence, Seasonality and Comorbidity in Vestibular Neuritis (P6.283)

Type of Substance Use Predicts Hemorrhage versus Ischemia (P5.137)
CONCLUSIONS:In hypertensive patients, tobacco use is highly associated with an increased risk of ischemia compared to ICH, while use of illicit substances, especially in the elderly, appears to be predictive of hemorrhage. Intracerebral Hemorrhage Associated with Oral Phenylephrine Use (P5.138)
CONCLUSION: It is scientifically plausible that Phe may cause strokes given that it is consistent with the pharmacological properties and adverse event profiles of similar amphetamine-like sympathomimetics. As RCVS has been well-described in association with over the counter sympathomimetics, these lines of evidence support a likely, although not definitive, causal relationship between Phe and ICH.Disclosure: Dr. Tark has nothing to disclose.
