Outcome Predictors After Successful Intra-Arterial Therapy for Acute Ischemic Stroke (P1.195)
Conclusion: Age, NIHSS score, use of stent retrievers, mode of anesthesia, and symptomatic ICH might affect functional outcome in stroke patients who achieve successful recanalization via intra-arterial therapy. Prospective studies, or a meta-analysis of sub-groups in the recently published prospective trials are needed to confirm the association between those factors, or others, and functional outcome.Disclosure: Dr. Noufal has nothing to disclose. Safety of Mechanical Thrombectomy for Acute Ischemic Stroke in Patients on Novel Oral Anticoagulants (P1.196)
Conclusion: Patients on NOAC undergoing mechanical thrombectomy show a trend towards increased sICH compared to the warfarin group. This may warrant larger studies of safety of mechanical thrombectomy in the presence of NOACs.Disclosure: Dr. Sharma has nothing to disclose. Dr. Atchaneeyasakul has nothing to disclose. Reliability of Detection of Intracranial Hemorrhage After Endovascular Intervention for Acute Stroke (P1.200)
CONCLUSIONS: Hyperdensity is frequently seen on CT post-endovascular intervention. This imaging differentiates hemorrhage from contrast in 62.5[percnt] of patients. In instances where the basis of CT density cannot be determined, 83[percnt] will ultimately be due to contrast extravasation. Still, a more reliable method is needed to distinguish hemorrhage from contrast post-endovascular intervention in acute stroke.Disclosure: Dr. Stein has nothing to disclose. When Non-Revascularized Transfer Patients Come A-Knocking at a Stroke Center (P1.201)
Conclusions: Despite having more severe strokes and higher frequency of adverse events, patients transferred into our CSC did not have worse short term functional outcomes. This highlights the importance of specialized inpatient care provided in NICUs and stroke units by experienced multidisciplinary teams.Disclosure: Dr. Sands has received research support from Biogen. Predictors and Associated Outcomes of Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Following Endovascular Treatment for Acute Ischemic Stroke (P1.203)
Conclusions: SAH following endovascular intervention for acute stroke is more common among patients with history of ischemic heart disease. It does not impact on functional outcome or mortality at 3 months.Disclosure: Dr. Saleem has nothing to disclose. Dr. Georgiadis has nothing to disclose. Dr. Qureshi has nothing to disclose.

On Admission Lymphopenia in ICH Patients Is Associated with Increased Mortality and Poor Functional Outcome (P1.204)
Conclusions: In patients with ICH, OALP is associated with poorer functional admission status, larger hematoma volume, higher incidence of pneumonia/sepsis. OALP was related to unfavorable functional outcome and increased rates of mortality. Further studies need to clarify whether the impact of OALP on mortality reflects comorbidity or independent, stroke-associated immunosuppressive effects.Disclosure: Dr. Giede-Jeppe has nothing to disclose. The Relationship of Admission Hyperglycemia to Severity and Outcome in Intracerebral Hemorrhage in Nigeria (P1.207)
CONCLUSION: Unlike in patients with cerebral infarction, admission hyperglycemia was not significantly associated with greater stroke severity and higher 30day mortality. Admission hyperglycemia was also not associated with poor functional outcome.Disclosure: Dr. Agabi has nothing to disclose. Dr. Danesi has nothing to disclose. Dr. Okubadejo has nothing to disclose. Palliative Care Consultation Did Not Reduce Length of Stay in a Comprehensive Stroke Center (P1.212)
Conclusion: Palliative care consultation for patients with ischemic or hemorrhagic strokes was not associated with decreased hospital costs or LoS. This is in contrast to previously reported studies. We will further analyze the effect of early palliative care on a larger sample size to validate the findings. We also propose that a standardized palliative care trigger tool be implemented for early PC consultation in patients with debilitating stroke, advanced age, and multiple comorbid conditions.Disclosure: Dr. Tversky has nothing to disclose. Rate of Endovascular Therapy in Octogenarian/Nonagenarian Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients Compared to Younger Patients (P1.110)
Conclusions: Frequency of EVT and IV-TPA use in AIS patients 蠅80years are increasing but rates remain significantly lower compared with younger patients. Disparity in EVT use in octogenarian/nonagenarian also exists by race and hospital factors. Targeted efforts are needed to lessen this disparity.Disclosure: Dr. Otite has nothing to disclose. Healthy Lifestyle and Functional Outcomes from Stroke in Women (P1.111)
Conclusions: The highest versus lowest scores on the HLI were associated with reductions in risk of total and ischemic strokes with mild, moderate, and severe functional outcomes. The evidence that modest HLI scores reduced risks of total and ischemic stroke with moderate and severe functional outcomes suggests that even modest lifestyle changes may translate to reductions in risk of a disabling stroke event. Aetiology of Stroke in a Young Cohort: A Longitudinal Study (P1.112)
Conclusions: This descriptive study reinforces the different aetiologies encountered in strokes in those under age 65 years. In this group, especially those under 45 years, large vessel atherosclerosis accounts for a smaller proportion and more unusual aetiologies must be sought with more extensive haematological and cardiological investigations.Disclosure: Dr. Lockhart has nothing to disclose. The Impact of Marijuana Legalization on Reversible Cerebral Vasoconstriction Syndrome (P1.115)
Conclusions: RCVS can lead to serious health consequences, including death. It is unclear whether the increased RCVS secondary to marijuana is due to greater physician awareness of RCVS and marijuana use or to increased consumption after legalization. Regardless, RCVS and marijuana warrants further study.Disclosure: Dr. Wagner has received personal compensation for activities with Genentech, Inc., as a speakers bureau member. The Clinical Course of Dural Arteriovenous Fistulae: A 10-Year Population-Based Cohort Study of Dural Arteriovenous Fistulae in Scotland (P1.116)
Conclusions: Venous anatomy is associated with dAVF initial presentation of stroke. Pattern of Acute Stroke Presentation in a Young Tertiary Hospital in South-South, Nigeria: Appraisal of Risk Factors and Clinical Outcomes (P1.118)
CONCLUSION: Stroke is associated with high mortality with patients presenting relatively young. Hemorrhagic stroke is common though ischemic stroke is still the commonest. Hypertension is the commonest risk factor. Family history of stroke and recurrent or history of previous stroke are also high.Disclosure: Dr. Obiabo has received personal compensation for activities with Novartis as a speaker.
