Longitudinal changes in life-space mobility and the factors influencing it among chronic community-dwelling post-stroke patients
CONCLUSIONS: Life-space mobility may persistently decline, and gait function may be a determinant influencing these changes in community-dwelling chronic post-stroke patients.Implications for RehabilitationLimited life-space mobility leads to less frequent participation in social activities and an increased risk of adverse health outcomes such as hospitalization.Changes in life-space mobility should be considered in the rehabilitation care plan for chronic post-stroke patients.Life-space mobility may decline persistently in stable post-stroke patients, even if they have periodically received day-care rehabilitation service...

Psychometric properties of the TEMPA for the assessment of arm motor activity capacity in hemiparetic Japanese patients after stroke
CONCLUSIONS: The most aspects of the Japanese TEMPA showed acceptable levels of inter-rater reliability and validity in patients with affected upper extremities after stroke.IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONThe TEMPA is reliable and valid in measuring activity capacity of upper extremity in patients with stroke. The functional rating score of the TEMPA is recommended to assess activities related to daily living, especially when users need to focus on bimanual activities. The TEMPA may help guide intervention that improve bimanual activity as well as the affected arm activity.PMID:33847186 | DOI:10.1080/09638288.2021.1910352

Prediction of life-space mobility in patients with stroke 2 months after discharge from rehabilitation: a retrospective cohort study.
CONCLUSIONS: The predictive formula provides an objective measure of life-space mobility for stroke patients after discharge. The clinical application of this formula could help health care professionals working in stroke rehabilitation to prepare patients for discharge and to set concrete goals for in-hospital rehabilitation to improve life-space mobility after discharge. Implications for rehabilitation Accurate prediction of the prognosis for life-space mobility 2 months after discharge is useful in establishing clear goals for community-based rehabilitation. Long-term life-space mobility in the community is not only aff...
