Impact of acute kidney injury in elderly ( ≥80 years) patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention
ConclusionsAKI occurs in a third of elderly ( ≥80 years) patients undergoing PCI and is associated with increased mortality. These findings underline the unmet clinical need to identify novel strategies for the prevention of AKI in this high‐risk patient subset.

Outcomes after transcatheter aortic valve replacement in patients with low versus high gradient severe aortic stenosis in the setting of preserved left ventricular ejection fraction
ConclusionPatients with preserved LVEF undergoing TAVR for severe AS with LG, including LG with low SVI, have no significant difference in adverse outcomes when compared to patients with HG.

Impact of anemia on percutaneous coronary intervention in Chinese patients: A large single center data
ConclusionsPre ‐PCI anemia was not an independent risk factor of any adverse clinical events, while post‐PCI anemia had a predictable value of MI, TVR, and MACE after PCI.

Cerebral embolic protection systems for transcatheter aortic valve replacement
In the recent years, ischemic brain injury related to embolization after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has received increased attention as new embolic protection strategies emerged to protect the brain. Diverse cerebral protection devices have been developed to reduce cerebral embolization during TAVR. These devices work through various mechanisms and are in different stages of clinical translation. This review provides the evidence ‐based review of peri‐procedural stroke prevention during TAVR and summarizes currently available cerebral embolic protection devices.

Valve ‐in‐valve transcatheter aortic valve implantation with CoreValve/Evolut R© for degenerated small versus bigger bioprostheses
ConclusionViV‐TAVI with CoreValve/R is demonstrated to be safe and effective in terms of no coronary obstruction and very low mortality up to 3 years despite slightly higher mean transprosthetic gradients especially in very small bioprostheses.

Comparison of three treatment strategies for patients with triple ‐vessel coronary disease and left ventricular dysfunction
ConclusionsFor patients with TVD and LV dysfunction, both CABG and PCI were associated with a lower risk of mortality compared with MT alone. Compared with PCI, CABG has a lower risk of cardiac death, repeat revascularization, and MACCE.

Outcomes of primary percutaneous coronary intervention in acute myocardial infarction due to unprotected left main thrombosis: The Asia ‐Pacific Left Main ST‐Elevation Registry (ASTER)
ConclusionsSTEMI from culprit unprotected left main coronary artery stenosis is associated with significant mortality and morbidity. Emergency PCI provides an important treatment option in this high‐risk group, but in‐hospital mortality remains high.

Randomized comparison of balloon aortic valvuloplasty performed with or without rapid cardiac pacing: The pacing versus no pacing (PNP) study
ConclusionsRapid ventricular pacing did not influence BAV efficacy or safety and tolerance was slightly worse.

Effectiveness of a handmade “New Carotid Catheter” in transradial carotid angiography: A comparison with conventional multipurpose catheters
ConclusionTransradial carotid angiography can be performed using our newly developed carotid catheter. The carotid arteries of patients with widespread coronary artery disease can be visualized, while asymptomatic patients carrying a high risk of stroke can be treated, preventing potential stroke occurrence. In a larger‐scale comparative study, the favorable contributions of routine use of the new method and a decreased frequency of stroke may be demonstrated.

Different patients, different outcomes: A case ‐control study of spontaneous coronary artery dissection versus acute coronary syndrome
ConclusionSCAD affects young females with a paucity of cardiovascular risk factors. The major risk factor for SCAD was a history of anxiety, depression, or neuropsychiatric illness. A conservative approach to SCAD revascularization led to similar MACCE when compared to ACS controls undergoing guideline revascularization at 12 months.
