136 Coincidential hydrocephalus in twins with CMT1X
Discussion Despite the finding of hydrocephalus in both affected twins, further family evaluation confirmed the hydrocephalous not to segregate with the GJB1 mutation. This highlights the importance of detailed phenotype segregation studies before diagnosing an atypical phenotype with genetic diseases. Alterna- tive genetic causes for the hydrocephalus are being sought. 1) Vivekanandam V, Hoskote C, Rossor AM, Reilly MM. CNS phenotype in X linked Charcot- Marie-Tooth disease. 011 Progressive myoclonic epilepsy due to rare mitochondrial ND6 mutation, m.14487T>C
We report the case of a 43-year old man with adult-onset drug-resistant epilepsy, cortical myoclonus and bilateral optic neuropathies. Serial MRI scans over a two year period demonstrated the interval devel- opment of bihemispheric stroke-like lesions. Giant somatosensory evoked potentials and short-duration myoclonic jerks with craniocaudal spread on surface-EMG were consistent with cortical myoclonus. Optical coherence tomography showed bilateral symmetric thinning of the nerve fibre layer in the pap- illomacular bundles. Muscle biopsy was non-diagnostic, however next-generation whole mitochondrial gene sequencing identi...

032 Improving access to inpatient ambulatory cardiac monitoring for acute stroke patients during the Covid-19 pandemic
Discussion There was a significant shift in clinical practice and diagnostic access to inpatient ACM during the pandemic, resulting in a greater proportion of tests, increased identification of AF and early anticoagulation, leading to improved patient care and potentially preventing further ischaemic events. harriet jeffery@nhs.net|ABN Bursary 41

033 GLP-1RAs reduce stroke incidence in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: a meta-analysis
Conclusions This data supports the value of GLP-1RAs in reducing stroke incidence in patients with T2DM. There is potential value in prospective, randomised controlled trials adequately powered to establish the value of GLP-1RAs in stroke prevention in T2DM patients. mark.maskery@doctors.org.uk|ABN Bursary

British Science Festival Student Bursary Winner 2013
Earlier this year the Nutrition Society gave one lucky Student Member the chance to attend the British Science Festival, which takes place in September each year. The winner, Lucy Bain, describes her experience and how she benefitted from it. Lucy is a PhD student at University of East Anglia, researching how our diet can influence stroke risk and risk factors such as blood pressure and cholesterol levels. This year’s Festival was held in Newcastle, which some members may remember from this year’s Nutrition Society Summer Meeting. On arrival on the Friday the weather wasn’t quite what graced us during that week in Ju...
