Beta-blockers 'useless' for many heart attack patients, study reports
Conclusion This study aimed to see whether beta blockers reduce mortality in people who've had a heart attack but who don't have heart failure or systolic dysfunction. It found no difference between those who were and those who were not given beta-blockers on discharge from hospital. The authors say this adds to the evidence that routine prescription of beta blockers might not be needed for patients without heart failure following a heart attack. Conclusions The ISDM-P on preventive measures in type 2 diabetes was effective under high fidelity conditions. Involvement of diabetes educators may facilitate implementation of the informed shared decision-making. Trial registration number ISRCTN84636255.

Differences in lipid profiles in two Hispanic ischemic stroke populations
ConclusionWe found significant differences in lipid fractions in Hispanic ischemic stroke patients, with lower total cholesterol and low‐density lipoprotein, and higher triglyceride levels in Mexicans. These findings highlight the heterogeneity of dyslipidemia among the Hispanic race‐ethnic group and may lead to different secondary prevention strategies.
