Complications of diabetes and metrics of glycaemic management derived from continuous glucose monitoring
CONCLUSIONS: The evidence supports the association between diabetes complications and CGM-derived measures of intra-day glycaemic variability. TIR emerged as the most consistent measure, supporting its emerging role in clinical practice. The Relationship between Glucose Control & Cognitive Function in People with Diabetes after a Lacunar Stroke.
CONCLUSION: This analysis of lacunar stroke patients with diabetes demonstrates a relationship between A1C and change in cognitive scores over time. Intervention studies are needed in order to delineate if better glucose control could slow the rate of cognitive decline in this high risk population. Pioglitazone and Risk for Bone Fracture: Safety Data from a Randomized Clinical Trial.
CONCLUSIONS: Fractures affected 8.8% of placebo-treated patients within five years after an ischemic stroke or TIA. Pioglitazone increased the absolute fracture risk by 1.6%-4.9% and the relative risk by 47-60%, depending on fracture classification. A Diet Rich in Medium-chain Fatty Acids Improves Systolic Function and Alters the Lipidomic Profile in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes: a Pilot Study.
CONCLUSIONS: Although a diet high in MCFAs does not change cardiac steatosis, our findings suggest that the MCFA-rich diet alters the plasma lipidome and may benefit or at least not harm cardiac function and fasting insulin levels in humans with type 2 diabetes.
