Challenges in managing ST elevation myocardial infarction during the COVID-19 pandemic
CONCLUSION: This single academic center study in the United States suggests that there is a delay in patients with STEMI seeking medical attention during the COVID-19 pandemic which could be translating into worse clinical outcomes.PMID:33968306 | PMC:PMC8069518 | DOI:10.4330/wjc.v13.i4.76

Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion Using Cardiac CT Angiography and Intracardiac Echocardiography: A Prospective, Single-Center Study
CONCLUSIONS: Cardiac CTA-guided preprocedural planning resulted in accurate device sizing in this patient sample and may be used in conjunction with ICE and conscious sedation for a same-day discharge strategy in select patients.PMID:34619655

O-005 Comparison of on-label versus off-label treatment of intracranial aneurysms with the pipeline embolization devices
ConclusionIn real-world practice, off-label uses of PED can achieve similar safety and efficacy to on-label uses, though there may be a slightly higher rate of ischemic complications in off-label uses. Expert judgment is a useful supplement to official guidelines when assessing reasonable PED use beyond its approved indications.Disclosures S. Cler: None. D. Lauzier: None. A. Comparative study of on-label versus off-label treatment of intracranial aneurysms with the Pipeline embolization device
CONCLUSIONS: In real-world practice, off-label use of PED is common and can achieve similar efficacy as on-label use. However, in aggregate, off-label use was found to carry an increased rate of ischemic complications. With judicious attention to safety and individual patient characteristics, these results highlight the scale and general feasibility of off-label PED use by experts.PMID:35090133 | DOI:10.3171/2021.11.JNS212481

Safety, Efficacy, and Cost-Effectiveness of Same-Day Discharge for Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion
CONCLUSIONS: Same-day discharge strategy for LAAO appears safe, feasible and could become the new standard approach for LAAO. A protocol including CTA pre-procedural planning, ICE-guided deployment and conscious sedation reduces hospital occupation and lowers costs.PMID:35100555
