Predictors and associating factors of nasogastric tube removal: Clinical and brain imaging data analysis in post-stroke dysphagia.
CONCLUSION: In Taiwan, the NG tube removal rate reached a plateau at around 12-16 weeks after stroke onset. Variables related to long-term NG tube use were divided into baseline characteristics of patient and stroke event severity. PMID: 32199716 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Cost-effectiveness of statin therapy for secondary prevention among patients with coronary artery disease and baseline LDL-C 70-100  mg/dL in Taiwan.
CONCLUSION: Lowering the target LDL-C level from 100 to 70 mg/dL among treatment-naïve CAD patients could be cost-effective given the health benefits of preventing cardiovascular events and deaths. PMID: 32081563 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Prevalence of diabetic macrovascular complications and related factors from 2005 to 2014 in Taiwan: A nationwide survey.
CONCLUSION: From this nationwide study, we observed a decrease in the prevalence of diabetic macrovascular complications, such as stroke, CVD, and HF, but an increase in the prevalence of PVDs in the past decade in Taiwan. PMID: 31540817 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Health impact assessment of PM2.5 from a planned coal-fired power plant in Taiwan.
CONCLUSION: A scientific approach should be adopted for assessing the impacts of CFPPT operation on population health, which can serve as a valuable policymaking reference for the government. PMID: 31495542 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

A functional recovery profile for patients with stroke following post-acute rehabilitation care in Taiwan.
CONCLUSIONS: This study showed that the PAC rehabilitation unit was beneficial for patients with acute stroke who had functional impairments. The study results may call for further investigation to identify and develop better models for the delivery of rehabilitation in the stroke PAC unit. Impact of type D personality on clinical outcomes in Asian patients with stable coronary artery disease.
CONCLUSION: Type D personality was an independent predictor of CV outcomes in an Asian cohort of stable CAD patients. This personality type may be identified in risk stratification for secondary prevention after PCI. PMID: 30243505 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Public knowledge, attitudes and willingness regarding bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation: A nationwide survey in Taiwan.
CONCLUSION: The expressed willingness to perform bystander CPR was high if the respondents possessed the required skills. Attempts should be made to recruit potential bystanders for CPR courses or education, targeting those respondent subgroups less likely to express willingness to perform CPR. The reason for lower bystander CPR willingness among healthcare providers deserves further investigation. PMID: 30190091 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

2017 Taiwan lipid guidelines for high risk patients.
Abstract In Taiwan, the prevalence of hyperlipidemia increased due to lifestyle and dietary habit changes. Low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and non-high density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C) are all significant predicting factors of coronary artery disease in Taiwan. We recognized that lipid control is especially important in patients with existed atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases (ASCVD), including coronary artery disease (CAD), ischemic stroke and peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Because the risk of ASCVD is high in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM), chronic kidney disease (CKD) and f...
