The effect and associated factors of dispatcher recognition of stroke: A retrospective observational study.
CONCLUSIONS: The dispatchers should spend more time identifying stroke patients by following the dispatch protocol. Recognition of stroke by dispatchers was associated with improved stroke care. PMID: 29158105 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

The 2020 Taiwan Stroke Society guidelines for blood pressure control at the acute stage of ischemic stroke
J Formos Med Assoc. 2022 Aug 27:S0929-6646(22)00318-7. doi: 10.1016/j.jfma.2022.08.010. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe 2020 Taiwan Stroke Society (TSS) guidelines for blood pressure (BP) control related to ischemic stroke update the 2015 TSS BP guidelines. The early management of acute ischemic stroke has evolved rapidly in the previous two decades. Since the publication of the previous version of the TSS BP guidelines, many studies have addressed BP management in ischemic stroke. Particularly, several successful endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) trials published in 2015 led to a new era of acute treatment for ischemic st...

Comparison of FAST and Stroke-112: A randomized study in Taiwan
CONCLUSION: We found no difference in recall ability between the 2 campaigns. Education level was associated with recallability of FAST, and age and stroke history were associated with recallability of Stroke-112.PMID:33736903 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2021.02.018

Detailed risks and characteristics of postepilepsy stroke in non-traumatic adult-onset epilepsy
CONCLUSION: Since the increased risk of stroke in epilepsy cohort peaked immediately after epilepsy diagnosis, early implementation of prevention strategies is considered.PMID:35484004 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2022.04.003

Diagnosis and Treatment for embolic stroke of undetermined source: Consensus statement from the Taiwan stroke society and Taiwan society of cardiology.
Abstract Cryptogenic stroke comprises about one-quarter of ischemic strokes with high recurrence rate; however, studies specifically investigating the features and treatment of this stroke subtype are rare. The concept of 'embolic stroke of undetermined source' (ESUS) may facilitate the development of a standardized approach to diagnose cryptogenic stroke and improve clinical trials. Since recent large randomized control trials failed to demonstrate a reduction in stroke recurrence with anticoagulants, anti-platelet agents remain the first-line treatment for ESUS patients. Nevertheless, patients with high risk of ...

A functional recovery profile for patients with stroke following post-acute rehabilitation care in Taiwan.
CONCLUSIONS: This study showed that the PAC rehabilitation unit was beneficial for patients with acute stroke who had functional impairments. The study results may call for further investigation to identify and develop better models for the delivery of rehabilitation in the stroke PAC unit. Predictors and associating factors of nasogastric tube removal: Clinical and brain imaging data analysis in post-stroke dysphagia.
CONCLUSION: In Taiwan, the NG tube removal rate reached a plateau at around 12-16 weeks after stroke onset. Variables related to long-term NG tube use were divided into baseline characteristics of patient and stroke event severity. PMID: 32199716 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
