CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: A protein risk score was significantly associated with ASCVD events in primary and secondary event populations. Blood phytosterols in relation to cardiovascular diseases and mediating effects of blood lipids and hematological traits: a Mendelian randomization analysis
CONCLUSION: The study suggests that genetic predisposition to higher blood total sitosterol is linked to a greater risk of major CVDs. The big sample size and the rich panel of other biomarkers allowed the authors to conduct much more detailed analyses on this topic.
