Development and internal validation of a clinical risk score for in-hospital mortality after stroke: a single-centre retrospective cohort study in Northwest Ethiopia
Conclusions The prediction model was developed from eight easy-to-collect predictors. The model has excellent discrimination and calibration performance, similar to that of the risk score model. It is simple, easily remembered, and helps clinicians identify the risk of patients and manage it properly. Prospective studies in different healthcare settings are required to externally validate our risk score.

Factors associated with the longer-term unmet supportive care needs of stroke survivors in Ethiopia: a multicentre cross-sectional study
Conclusions There are significant longer-term unmet supportive care needs among adult stroke survivors. The factors associated with longer-term unmet supportive care needs were; having comorbidities, moderate and above level of disability according to the modified Rankin Scale score and unable to use the physiotherapy service. The development of appropriate services to address the longer-term unmet supportive care needs of stroke survivors is warranted.

Management Protocols and Encountered Complications among Stroke Patients Admitted to Stroke Unit of Jimma University Medical Center, Southwest Ethiopia: Prospective Observational study
ConclusionBoth neurologic and medical complications were common in majority of stroke patients. But the management protocol for stroke patients was sub-optimal and lagging behind the recommended guidelines due to lack of skilled personnel, appropriate treatment and diagnostic agents. The clinical team involved in the care of stroke patients should make preparations to take preventive measures that will save a lot of lives.
