CONCLUSIONS: Globally, Lp(a) is measured in a small minority of patients with ASCVD and is highest in black, younger and female patients. Stroke Epidemiology and Incidence in Regional Queensland: Findings of the Regional Queensland Stroke (REQUEST) Study
CONCLUSIONS: Incidence of stroke in a regional Queensland population is similar to other regional populations and when compared with larger cities. Despite a global trend in stroke reduction, modifiable risk factors like hypertension and atrial arrhythmias continue to be over-represented in the stroke population. Generation of cardio-protective antibodies after pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine: Early results from a randomised controlled trial
CONCLUSIONS: PPV engenders a long-lasting increase in anti-pneumococcal IgG, and to a lesser extent, IgM titres, as well as a transient increase in anti-OxLDL IgM antibodies. However, there were no detectable changes in surrogate markers of atherosclerosis at the 2-year follow-up.
