Effect of Solitaire FR Stent Thrombectomy Combined with the Suction Thrombus on the Clinical Effect and Prognosis of Acute Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion
Evid Based Complement Alternat Med. 2022 Jul 30;2022:9227790. doi: 10.1155/2022/9227790. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTTo determine the curative effect and prognosis of Solitaire FR stent thrombectomy integrated with the suction thrombus on the treatment of acute middle cerebral artery occlusion (AMCAO). Based on the treatment, patients suffering from AMCAO were separated into the Solitaire FR group (Solitaire FR stent + suction thrombus) and suction group (suction thrombus). Modified thrombolysis in cerebral infarction grading, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score, modified Rankin Scale score, and safety pe...

Xiaoxuming Decoction: A Traditional Herbal Recipe for Stroke With Emerging Therapeutic Mechanisms
Xiaoxuming decoction (XXMD) has been traditionally used to manage stroke though debates on its clinical efficacy were present in the history. Till nowadays, it is still one of the most commonly used herbal recipes for stroke. One of the reasons is that a decent proportion of ischemic stroke patients still have residue symptoms even after thrombolysis with rt-PA or endovascular thrombectomy. Numerous clinical studies have shown that XXMD is an effective alternative therapy not only at the acute stage, but also at the chronic sequelae stage of ischemic stroke. Modern techniques have isolated groups of compounds from XXMD whi...

Different Scores Predict the Value of Hemorrhagic Transformation after Intravenous Thrombolysis in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke
CONCLUSION: The lower the ASPECTS score and the higher the DRAGON, SEDAN, and HAT scores, the higher the incidence of HT in AIS patients. The patient's age, atrial fibrillation, baseline NIHSS score, early signs of infarction on admission with head CT, time from onset to thrombolytic therapy, and thrombolytic drugs are all independent factors affecting HT in AIS patients. The scores of ASPECTS, DRAGON, SEDAN and HAT have certain value in predicting HT after intravenous thrombolysis in AIS patients, and the predicted value of ASPECTS score is the best.PMID:34721622 | PMC:PMC8553431 | DOI:10.1155/2021/2468052

Analysis of Influencing Factors of Compliance with Non-Vitamin K Antagonist Oral Anticoagulant in Patients with Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation and Correlation with the Severity of Ischemic Stroke
In this study, a total of 156 patients with NVAF who received NOAC anticoagulation therapy in our hospital from January 2018 to January 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. The results showed that education background, place of residence, number of complications, CHA2DS2-VASc score, and HAS-BLED score were independent influencing factors for NOACS compliance of NVAF patients. Also, the Pearson correlation analysis showed that there was a negative correlation (r = -0.465, P < 0.001) between NOAC compliance and severity of ischemic stroke in patients with NVAF. Therefore, clinical supervision and management of patients wit...

Predictive Value of Apelin and Vaspin on Hemorrhagic Transformation in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke after Intravenous Thrombolysis and Analysis of Related Factors
CONCLUSION: Apelin and Vaspin can help effectively forecast the occurrence of HT in CIS patients after ITT as independent protective factors of HT, so they are of a high clinical application value.PMID:34707670 | PMC:PMC8545532 | DOI:10.1155/2021/5020622

Preserved Left Atrial Function Following Left Atrial Appendage Closure for Stroke Prevention.
CONCLUSION: LA function is crucial for cardiovascular function and recurrence of AF. Our study provides evidence that LA appendage closure preserves LA function, determined by strain imaging in patients with paroxysmal AF and sinus rhythm during echocardiography. A Review of Antiplatelet Activity of Traditional Medicinal Herbs on Integrative Medicine Studies.
Authors: Kim K, Park KI Abstract Thrombotic events mainly occurred by platelet activation and aggregation. The vascular occlusion causes serious disease states such as unstable angina, ischemic stroke, and heart attack. Due to the pervading of thrombotic diseases, new antiplatelet drugs are necessary for preventing and treating arterial thrombosis without adverse side effects. Traditional medicinal herbs have been used for the treatment of human ailments for a long time. The clinically useful and safe products from traditional medicinal herbs were identified and developed in numerous pharmacological approaches. A c...

Very early versus delayed mobilisation after stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: VEM, which usually involved first mobilisation within 24 hours of stroke onset, did not increase the number of people who survived or made a good recovery after their stroke. VEM may have reduced the length of stay in hospital by about one day, but this was based on low-quality evidence. Based on the potential hazards reported in the single largest RCT, the sensitivity analysis of trials commencing mobilisation within 24 hours, and the NMA, there was concern that VEM commencing within 24 hours may carry an increased risk, at least in some people with stroke. Given the uncertainty around these effect estimates,...

Novel oral anticoagulants in chronic kidney disease: ready for prime time?
Purpose of review Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are at increased risk of atrial fibrillation, stroke, and bleeding posing unique clinical challenges. Novel oral anticoagulants (NOACs) including dabigatran, rivaroxaban, and apixaban have become recognized as alternative therapy to Vitamin K Antagonists (VKA) regarding the prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and reduce the risk of stroke in atrial fibrillation. However, the understanding of NOACs in CKD is still underdeveloped. This review summarizes recent literature on the efficacy and safety of NOACs in patients with CKD. Recent findings Studies f...
