Impact of Patent Foramen Ovale on Total Knee Arthroplasty Cerebrovascular Accident Perioperative Management.
This study was undertaken to determine whether patients with a PFO would have a significantly increased risk of cerebrovascular accident (CVA) following TKA. The Humana national database was used to identify TKA patients who were stratified by the presence of a PFO from 2007 to 2016. Ninety-day follow-up was used for the primary outcome of CVA. Effect of clopidogrel in bone healing-experimental study in rabbits.

Not all in your head (and neck): Stroke after blunt cerebrovascular injury is associated with systemic hypercoagulability
CONCLUSION Patients who suffer BCVI-related stroke are hypercoagulable compared with those with BCVI who remain asymptomatic. Increased angle or MA should be considered when assessing the risk of thrombosis and determining the optimal time to initiate antithrombotic therapy in patients with BCVI. ConclusionPatients with ASA grade > II, greater co-morbidity burden and prolonged operative times were likely to experience adverse events and have a longer length of stay. Surgeons can utilize this data to risk stratify patients so that appropriate pre-operative and post-operative medical optimization can take place.

Comparative Analysis of Short-Term Postoperative Complications in Outpatient Versus Inpatient Total Ankle Arthroplasty: A Database Study
This study evaluated the complication rates in inpatient versus outpatient TAA. It analyzed data from the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program for 591 patients who received TAA. Postoperative complication rates were compared between 66 outpatients and 535 inpatients.
