Aspiration thrombectomy in clinical routine interventional stroke treatment
ConclusionWhen used as a  first pass attempt AST is a fast and safe approach for patients suffering from stroke due to ELVO. Nonetheless, early conversion to SRT is needed in most cases and leads to overall excellent procedural results with low complication rates.

Respond, Intervene and Escalate: Acute Stroke Events in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit
In the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) setting there can be challenges in differentiating between anesthesia-related versus thrombolytic neurologic deficits. The ability to accurately assess, differentiate and escalate care is imperative to improve outcomes. The occurrence of acute stroke events in the peri-operative setting at a comprehensive cancer center emphasized the need for an evidence-based and comprehensive approach to assessment, communication and documentation of risk factors for thrombotic complications.

Code Stroke After Cardiac Surgery: Can We Make a Difference?
IN AN editorial in the Journal of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesia, Kashani et al. reported their systematic review on intraarterial thrombolytic (IAT) and endovascular mechanical treatment (EMT) for stroke after cardiac surgery.1 Unfortunately, few conclusions about the efficacy of either approach could be drawn because of the sparsity of data —a total of 33 patients were reported in case series or case reports. Complete reperfusion was possible in 26% of the IAT group, with 42% of patients also receiving EMT due to poor initial results.

O-019 Increasing inner diameter leads to faster thrombectomy with aspiration in acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionThis multicenter, consecutive real-world experience demonstrates that M1 thrombectomy with a larger distal ID catheter is associated with faster time to recanalization and higher rate of TICI 2C or better recanalization on first pass, but also with a higher rate of hemorrhage on follow up imaging.Disclosures J. Ischemic Stroke Due to Heparin-induced Thrombocytopenia During Severe COVID-19 Infection
Intern Med. 2022 Jul 5. doi: 10.2169/internalmedicine.9531-22. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 53-year-old woman with severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia was admitted and treated with intravenous unfractionated heparin for thromboprophylaxis under general anesthesia with mechanical ventilation. She developed right hemiparesis after hospitalization due to a large hemorrhagic infarction. Her platelet count decreased from 243,000/μL at administration to 121,000/μL. Anti-platelet factor 4-heparin antibody testing was positive according to a latex immunoturbidimetric assay. She was therefore diagnosed with he...

Left ventricular chordae tendinae myxoma causing stroke: A rare finding
Ann Card Anaesth. 2022 Jul-Sep;25(3):346-348. doi: 10.4103/aca.aca_19_21.ABSTRACTA 52-year-old woman presented with dysarthria and right-sided weakness in her upper and lower extremities prompting thrombolytic therapy with mild resolution of symptoms. Further work-up revealed (the source) a left ventricular myxoma on the chordae tendinae of the posterior medial papillary muscle, confirmed with transesophageal echocardiography and pathology. Herein, we present a rare case of embolic stroke from a myxoma originating on the chordae tendinae. To the best of our knowledge, the literature on the location and presentation of this...
