E-049 Complications of middle meningeal artery embolization - a systematic review
ConclusionThe published literature suggests that MMA embolization is a generally well-tolerated procedure, but with a low risk of significant complications, including, but not limited to stroke, seizures, visual obscurations, and facial palsy. Further studies and sub-analyses are needed to fully characterize the incidence of such complications.Disclosures J. Gerstl: None. M. Shafi: None. S. Badikol: None. N. Nawabi: None. R. Mekary: None. Locked-in syndrome responding to endovascular treatment
Conclusions This study found that EVT was associated with favorable functional outcomes and decreased mortality among patients with LiS. Baseline pc-ASPECTS and pneumonia were independent predictors of outcomes.

Interrupted intraarterial selective cooling infusion combined with mechanical thrombectomy in patients with acute ischemic stroke: a prospective, nonrandomized observational cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Interrupted IA-SCI for patients with intracranial large vessel occlusion AIS symptoms treated with MT seems to be safe and associated with favorable functional outcomes.PMID:36964733 | DOI:10.3171/2023.2.JNS222542

E-045 A case of left internal carotid artery stroke due to fat embolism from novel cosmetic procedure: a case report
A 28-year old woman was transferred to the emergency room following an acute change in mental status after liposuction and fat harvesting transfer into her gluteal region. She had a forced left-gaze, with right sided hemiplegia where the motor movements did not even respond to painful stimulation, and Babinski’s sign was positive on both the sides. The CT brain - stroke protocol scan was 5.5 h after the liposuction procedure showed a hypoattenuation signal in the left hemisphere and a hypodensity within the left Sylvian fissure, signs of grey-white matter differentiation, with 1mm MLS to the right. NIHSS on admission...

The effect of sex differences on complications and 90-day outcomes after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage: a propensity score-matched analysis
AbstractAneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) is the most devastating form of stroke. Up to now, little is known about the effect of sex differences on complications and outcomes. We retrospectively reviewed aSAH patients admitted to our institution between January 2015 and December 2020. The functional outcomes at discharge and 90  days after discharge were assessed using the modified Rankin Scale (mRS). Baseline characteristics, in-hospital complications, and outcomes were compared after 1:1 propensity score matching (PSM). The area under the curve (AUC) in the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis ...

Predictors of poor outcome despite successful endovascular treatment for ischemic stroke: results from the MR CLEAN Registry
Conclusion Baseline patient factors and postprocedural adverse events are important predictors of poor functional outcome in successfully reperfused patients with ischemic stroke. This implies that prevention of postprocedural adverse events has the greatest potential to further improve outcomes in these patients.

079 Unmasking of motor neuron disease by botulinum toxin therapy
A 75 year-old male with a history of a right hemiparesis due to past h/o stroke sustained a T3 vertebral body compression fracture after a fall and was treated conservatively. Six months later, in a rehabilita- tion clinic he reported that following discharge there had been a gradual deterioration in his mobility and strength, particularly on the right side. His right upper limb had become more stiff and painful with decreased range of movements. Two months later he received Dysport injections to the right elbow flexors, right brachioradialis, soleus and right flexor carpi radialis. Four days later, he developed worsening ...
