E-108 Endovascular treatment of patients with acute ischemic stroke due to underlying arterial dissection: a nationwide analysis
ConclusionsDespite a similar prevalence among patients admitted for AIS, CA dissections are associated with a higher rate of endovascular intervention and poorer short-term outcomes compared to VA dissections. This study provides essential epidemiologic and outcome data for the cerebrovascular neurosurgeon.Abstract E-108 Table 1Comparison of clinical characteristics and outcomes among patients presenting with acute ischemic stroke due to carotid or vertebral artery dissections Characteristic Vertebral Artery Dissection, N = 2,562 Carotid Artery Dissection, N = 2,789 p-value1 Age (years), Mean (SD) 53 (17) 57 (17) <0.00...

E-226 Endovascular treatment of pediatric arteriovenous shunts
ConclusionEndovascular treatment of pediatric arteriovenous shunts is extremely difficult and associated with high risks of complications. However, excellent clinical results can be achieved in specialized clinics. The choice of embolic agent should depend on the hemodynamic load of the pathological blood flow.Disclosures V. E-019 tcar
ConclusionsOur analysis of a single-center cohort demonstrates that TCAR is a safe and effective treatment for symptomatic carotid stenosis, with a low perioperative stroke risk. The present study’s findings concur with the combined adverse outcome rate of 3.5% reported in the ROADSTER trial.Disclosures A. Bajaj: None. S. Monje: None. C. Ayala: None. J. Poggi: None. E. Adapting the 5-factor modified frailty index for prediction of postprocedural outcome in patients with unruptured aneurysms
CONCLUSIONS: mFI-5 and AmFI-5 represent potential predictors of procedure-related complications in unruptured aneurysm patients. After further validation, integration of these tools into clinical workflows may optimize patients for intervention.PMID:34388727 | DOI:10.3171/2021.2.JNS204420

P-029 Impact of in-hospital delirium on outcomes of acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionsDelirium complicates ~3.5% of AIS admissions, and is associated with increased risk of in-hospital death, longer stay, higher charges and decrease in likelihood of home discharge.Disclosures D. Effect of comorbidities on ischemic stroke mortality: An analysis of the National Inpatient Sample (NIS) Database
CONCLUSION: Patients hospitalized from ischemic stroke suffered from the coexistence of other comorbidities. Of the comorbidities studied, IHD was identified as having the most significant impact on in-hospital mortality.PMID:34221599 | PMC:PMC8247684 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_415_2021
