Endovascular treatment for calcified cerebral emboli in patients with acute ischemic stroke
CONCLUSIONS: While patients with CCE had significantly lower reperfusion rates and less improvement on the NIHSS after EVT, CCE were not significantly associated with worse functional outcome or higher mortality rates. Therefore, EVT should still be considered in this specific group of patients.PMID:33799302 | DOI:10.3171/2020.9.JNS201798

Balloon-mounted stenting for ICAS in a multicenter registry study in China: a comparison with the WEAVE/WOVEN trial
Conclusions The short-term and long-term outcomes of using a balloon-mounted stent for symptomatic ICAS with focal and non-angular lesions (Mori A and B type) and smooth arterial access were comparable to the results of the WEAVE/WOVEN trial.

P-012 Thrombectomy aspiration post-market study in acute stroke: the TAPAS study
ConclusionThe Q Aspiration Catheter is a novel technology that showed comparable deliverability and revascularization rates as other commercially available catheters with no safety concerns. More prospective clinical data is needed to fully assess the Q Aspiration Catheter.AbbreviationsAIS (acute ischemic stroke), MT (mechanical thrombectomy), ASPECTs (Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score), mTICI (modified TICI score), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale), mRS (modified Rankin Scale), ENT (embolization to a new territory), sICH (symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage)Disclosures F. P-019 Clinical significance of contrast staining after mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionContrast staining is associated with the development of ICH, particularly in the early period after MT and worse clinical outcomes. While patients with ICH had worse functional outcomes at discharge, contrast staining itself was not associated with worse outcomes. Lasty, larger diameter clot retriever devices and catheters were not significantly correlated with the presence of contrast staining.Disclosures T. Lazaro: None. P. Cotton: None. C. English: None. K. P-023 Spoke-administered intravenous alteplase and outcomes for large vessel occlusion stroke patients in a hub-and-spoke telestroke model
ConclusionIn this cohort of 258 patients who first presented to spoke hospitals as potential EVT candidates with CTA-defined ELVO and ASPECTS ≥6, treatment with intravenous alteplase at spoke hospitals before transfer significantly increased the odds of discharge and 90-day functional independence without increasing the odds of ICH. Intravenous alteplase should not be withheld from ELVO patients who first present to spoke hospitals capable of its administration but requiring transfer for EVT. Additional studies are warranted to confirm benefits of spoke-administered alteplase in other hub-and-spoke models and to underst...

E-004 Focal intracranial vasculopathy as a manifestation of COVID-19-associated acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionTo our knowledge, our case is the first to illustrate the potential for COVID-19 infection to present as a focal intracranial vasculopathy in an otherwise healthy young-patient, resulting in acute ischemic stroke without an underlying hypercoagulable state. Rescue intracranial stenting was necessary to maintain vessel patency and restore intracranial flow.Disclosures A. Mahapatra: None. A. Witek: None. G. Toth: None.

E-091 Outcome following mechanical thrombectomy for anterior circulation large vessel occlusion stroke in octogenarians and nonagenarians compared to younger age
ConclusionA moderate outcome among nonagenarians is observed in about 30%, while mortality rates are about 50%. Withholding mechanical thrombectomy does not appear justifiable, although the absolute treatment effect among nonagenarians remains unknown.Disclosures P. Hendrix: None. M. Killer-Oberpfalzer: None. LB-005 The INSIGHT registry: a multi-center, multi-omic stroke clot study, preliminary results
ConclusionThese preliminary results demonstrate the real-world applicability of the INSIGHT study to typical stroke thrombectomy population. Furthermore, the tissue processing protocols are providing high-quality RNA and protein for analysis, which is currently underway.DisclosuresJ. Endovascular therapy with or without intravenous thrombolysis in acute stroke with tandem occlusion
Conclusions Our results suggest that bridging therapy in patients with acute ischemic stroke due to anterior tandem occlusion is safe and may improve functional outcome, even in the setting of acute cervical internal carotid artery stenting during EVT.

Mechanical thrombectomy beyond the circle of Willis: efficacy and safety of different techniques for M2 occlusions
Conclusion Stent-retrievers and a combined approach for M2 occlusions seem more effective than direct aspiration, but with higher rates of iSAH. This leads to no detectable difference in clinical outcome at 3 months.

O-062 Clinical outcomes of endovascular thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke in patients with active cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionOn meta-analysis, patients with current malignancy experience inferior outcomes after embolectomy with respect to hemorrhage, functional independence, and mortality in spite of recanalization results similar to non-cancer patients. Further research is needed to optimize endovascular management for this sub-population of stroke.Disclosures D. Schartz: None. M. Bender: None. G. Kohli: None. S. Akkipeddi: None. N. Ellens: None. T.
