Trends and Survival Between Ethnic Groups After Stroke: The South London Stroke Register Original Contributions
Conclusions— Survival has improved in a multiethnic population over time. The independent survival advantage of black Caribbean and black African over White group in those aged over 65 may be a healthy migrant effect of first generation migrants. The increase in admission to a stroke unit may contribute to the improvement in survival after stroke.

Formation and Function of Acute Stroke-Ready Hospitals Within a Stroke System of Care Recommendations From the Brain Attack Coalition Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— ASRHs will form the foundation for acute stroke care in many settings. Recommended elements of an ASRH build on those proven to improve care and outcomes at Primary Stroke Centers. The ASRH will be a key component for patient care within an evolving stroke system of care.

Intravenous Thrombolysis for Stroke Recurring Within 3 Months From the Previous Event Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— Patients currently treated with alteplase, despite a history of previous stroke ≤3 months, do not seem to achieve worse outcome than those with first-ever stroke. Although careful patient selection was probably of major importance, our findings provide reassurance that this group of patients may safely benefit from thrombolysis and should not be arbitrarily excluded as a whole. Further studies are needed to identify the shortest safe time lapse from the previous event to treatment with alteplase.

Ethnic Comparison of 30-Day Potentially Preventable Readmissions After Stroke in Hawaii Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— In Hawaii, Chinese may have a higher risk of 30-day PPR after stroke compared with whites. However, this seems to be driven by the high number of repeated PPR within the Chinese ethnic group.

Post-stroke hemiparesis: Does chronicity, etiology, and lesion side are associated with gait pattern?
CONCLUSION: In order to recruit a more homogeneous sample, more accurate results were obtained and an appropriate rehabilitation program was offered, researchers and clinicians should consider that gait pattern might be associated with time since stroke, affected cerebral hemisphere and lesion etiology.
