Hemorrhagic Transformation After Ischemic Stroke: Mechanisms and Management
Symptomatic hemorrhagic transformation (HT) is one of the complications most likely to lead to death in patients with acute ischemic stroke. HT after acute ischemic stroke is diagnosed when certain areas of cerebral infarction appear as cerebral hemorrhage on radiological images. Its mechanisms are usually explained by disruption of the blood-brain barrier and reperfusion injury that causes leakage of peripheral blood cells. Differential Influence of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Mechanical Thrombectomy and Bridging Therapy for Acute Ischemic Stroke
ConclusionFor patients with MT, both short- and long-term functional outcomes were not significantly affected due to the mild condition of patients admitted to hospital in 2020. For patients with BT, the COVID-19 pandemic has prolonged the green channel time of stroke, leading to a poor short-term functional prognosis of patients with stroke in the pandemic period. There was no difference in the effectiveness of direct MT and BT during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Plasma Inflammatory Markers and Ventriculostomy-Related Infection in Patients With Hemorrhagic Stroke: A Retrospective and Descriptive Study
ConclusionsNo differences in plasma inflammatory markers could be found between patients with VRI and patients without any infection. Conversely, CRP/PCT were higher in patients with non-cerebral infection than in patients with VRI. Altogether, CRP, PCT, and WBC are not suitable parameters for VRI diagnosis in neurocritical care unit patients.

We report a higher rate of unfavorable clinical outcome and a higher mortality rate in patients with PSD undergoing EVT compared to those with no previous disability. Impact of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy on short- and long-term outcomes of pregnancy-associated hemorrhagic stroke
ConclusionsIn this retrospective study, women with hypertension disorders of pregnancy did not show worse short-term outcomes of pregnancy-associated hemorrhagic stroke compared to those without but had poorer long-term functional outcomes. This underlines the importance of prevention, recognition, and treatment of hypertension disorders in these women.

Effects of silent brain infarction on the hemorrhagic transformation and prognosis in patients with acute ischemic stroke after intravenous thrombolysis
ConclusionWe found that SBI was no effect for HT after thrombolysis in ischemic stroke patients, and no effect on favorable functional outcome at 3 months. Nevertheless, SBI remained an independent risk factor for non-excellent functional outcomes at 3 months.
