Pure arterial malformations.
CONCLUSIONS Pure arterial malformations are rare lesions that are often detected incidentally and probably have a benign natural history. These lesions can affect any of the intracranial arteries and are likely best managed conservatively. PMID: 28960150 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Risk of intracranial hemorrhage after carotid artery stenting versus endarterectomy: a population-based study.
CONCLUSIONS CAS is associated with a rare but higher risk of ICH relative to CEA. Future research is needed to devise strategies that minimize the risk of this serious complication after carotid artery revascularization. PMID: 29393758 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Longitudinal anterior-to-posterior shift of collateral channels in patients with moyamoya disease: an implication for its hemorrhagic onset.
CONCLUSIONS This study suggests that the collateral channels through moyamoya vessels longitudinally shift from the anterior to posterior component during disease progression and aging, which may be closely related to the onset of hemorrhagic stroke in adult moyamoya disease. PMID: 29570010 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

The impact of statin therapy after surgical or endovascular treatment of cerebral aneurysms.
CONCLUSIONSConsistent statin therapy was significantly associated with better prognosis after coil embolization or surgical clipping of cerebral aneurysms. PMID: 31125972 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Strategy and effect of repeat bypass surgery for anterior/posterior circulation in refractory moyamoya disease.
CONCLUSIONSRepeat bypass surgery was feasible and effective to reduce further incidence of headache attack, transient ischemic attack, and ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke in moyamoya disease patients. Through precise radiological analysis, surgical procedures should be planned to yield maximal therapeutic effects. PMID: 31151103 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

RECO Flow Restoration Device Versus Solitaire FR With the Intention for Thrombectomy Study (REDIRECT): a prospective randomized controlled trial.
CONCLUSIONS: The RECO stent retriever is effective and safe as a mechanical thrombectomy device for AIS due to LVO.Clinical trial registration no.: NCT01983644 (clinicaltrials.gov). PMID: 32502991 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

A multicenter cohort study of early complications after cranioplasty: results of the German Cranial Reconstruction Registry
CONCLUSIONS: The authors have presented class II evidence-based data on surgery-related complications after CP and have identified specific preexisting risk factors. These results may provide additional guidance for optimized treatment of these patients.PMID:34920418 | DOI:10.3171/2021.9.JNS211549

Radiological and clinical features of twig-like middle cerebral artery in comparison with moyamoya angiopathy: a multicenter retrospective study
CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests that T-MCA is a different disease entity from MMA based on significant differences in the radiological and clinical features. Neurosurgeons should recognize this anomaly and understand the key features that differentiate T-MCA from MMA.PMID:35426829 | DOI:10.3171/2022.2.JNS212338
