Causes of Death in Elderly Patients With Non-Valvular Atrial Fibrillation - Results From the ANAFIE Registry
CONCLUSIONS: This subanalysis described the mortality according to causes of death of Japanese elderly NVAF patients in the DOAC era. Reduced dose direct oral anticoagulants compared with warfarin with high time in therapeutic range in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation
The objective of this study was to compare effectiveness and safety between reduced dose DOACs and high TTR warfarin treatment (TTR ≥ 70%) in NVAF. A Swedish anticoagulation registry was used in identifying eligible patients from July 2011 to December 2017. The study cohort consisted of 40,564 patients with newly initiated DOAC (apixaban, dabigatran, or rivaroxaban) (11,083 patients) or warfarin treatment (29,481 patients ) after exclusion of 374,135 patients due to not being warfarin or DOAC naïve, not being prescribed reduced dose, having previous mechanical heart valve (MHV), or being under 18 years old. Warfarin-induced isolated spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage: Rare case report
CONCLUSION: Warfarin is rarely associated with isolated subarachnoid hemorrhage. This case highlights a young male patient with spontaneous SAH after warfarin therapy for acute ischemic stroke. Comparison of primary and secondary stroke prevention in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation: Results from the RAFFINE registry
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a predictor of severe stroke and early death in acute ischemic stroke patients.1 The prevalence of AF has increased as the Japanese population has aged.2 AF has been more common among patients with ischemic stroke than previously reported.3 In particular, AF patients with a history of stroke or TIA have had higher risks for stroke, hemorrhagic events, and death compared to those without.4,5 In these previous studies, most patients received warfarin for anticoagulation therapy.

Comparative Effectiveness and Safety Between Apixaban, Dabigatran, Edoxaban, and Rivaroxaban Among Patients With Atrial Fibrillation : A Multinational Population-Based Cohort Study
CONCLUSION: Among patients with AF, apixaban use was associated with lower risk for GIB and similar rates of ischemic stroke or systemic embolism, ICH, and all-cause mortality compared with dabigatran, edoxaban, and rivaroxaban.
