Non-vitamin K Antagonist Oral Anticoagulant, Warfarin, and ABC Pathway Adherence on Hierarchical Outcomes: Win Ratio Analysis of the COOL-AF Registry
CONCLUSION: This Win Ratio analysis demonstrates the significant benefits of NOACs over warfarin and ABC pathway adherence over nonadherence in reducing the composite outcome in patients with AF.PMID:37625457 | DOI:10.1055/s-0043-1772773

von Willebrand factor, ADAMTS-13, and thrombospondin 1 in relation to clinical outcomes in elderly patients with a recent myocardial infarction
CONCLUSION: Although low ADAMTS-13 predicted death, the cardiovascular risk associated with VWF and ADAMTS-13 was weaker than previously reported. Low VWF is associated with new-onset AF and needs further research.PMID:37255854 | PMC:PMC10225923 | DOI:10.1016/j.rpth.2023.100164

Effect of obstructive sleep apnea on prognosis in patients with acute coronary syndromes with varying numbers of standard modifiable risk factors: insight from the OSA-ACS study
ConclusionsIn hospitalized ACS patients, OSA is associated with an increased risk of MACCE and ischemia-driven revascularization among patients with 3 –4 SMuRFs. Therefore, screening for OSA should be emphasized in ACS patients with 3–4 SMuRFs, and intervention trials should be prioritized in these high-risk patients.

Risk factors for post-discharge major thromboembolism and mortality in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 with cardiovascular comorbidities
Conclusions COVID-19 inpatients with cardiovascular disease experience high rates of ATE, VTE, or ACM through 90 days post-discharge. Age > 75 years, PAD, CAS, CHF, previous VTE, and ICU admission are independent risk factors.PMID:37146648 | DOI:10.1055/a-2087-3003

Visit-to-Visit Heart Rate Variability in the Prediction of Clinical Outcomes of Patients with Atrial Fibrillation
CONCLUSION: VVV-HR is an independent predictor for adverse clinical outcomes in patients with AF. A J-curve appearance was demonstrated for the effect of VVV-HR on all-cause death.PMID:37116533 | DOI:10.1055/s-0043-1768580

What is resistant arterial hypertension?
CONCLUSION: RAH distinctly increases the risk of developing coronary artery disease, heart failure, stroke and chronic kidney disease and confers higher rates of major adverse cardiovascular events as well as increased all-cause mortality. Timely diagnosis and treatment of RAH may mitigate the associated risks and improve short and long-term prognosis.PMID:36891929 | DOI:10.1080/08037051.2023.2185457
