Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation in Post-Stroke Aphasia: The Impact of Baseline Severity and Task Specificity (P4.206)
Conclusions:The results suggest that for at least some outcome measures, baseline severity may be an important factor in predicting the response to tDCS in patients with chronic non-fluent aphasia. Overrepresentation of isolated verbal repetition deficits in aphasic males with stroke: A systematic literature review and meta-analysis (P4.211)

Stroke like migraine attacks after radiation therapy (SMART) syndrome a case series of three patients (P6.179)
Conclusions:Our patients represent the first case series of SMART syndrome in a single institution. Conclusions:The reports of improvement in caregiver health, social participation of patients, and functional communication are in line with the group’s focus and goals. In contrast, more comprehensive knowledge of the disease process may have led patients and caregivers to experience greater feelings of guilt and fear. Hypoperfusion, vascular pruning, and transient hemiparesis mimicking stroke in transient erythroblastopenia of childhood (P4.161)
Conclusions:The patient’s transient cerebrovascular and electrophysiologic abnormalities are consistent with those described in the literature for hemiplegic migraine. However, he did not meet International Headache Society criteria for hemiplegic migraine, such as headache with presentation or recurrent events. Sturge-Weber Syndrome Type 3 in a 44 year old woman: A Case report & review of literature (P4.183)
Conclusions:SWS Type 3 consists of leptomeningeal angioma only, which can make the diagnosis challenging. Patients with SWS Type 3 may present in adulthood with primary neurologic symptoms of seizure, headache, behavioral problems or stroke-like symptoms. MRI brain remains the investigation of choice. Conclusions: Damage to the mid-to-posterior MTG is associated with an inability to integrate multiword utterances during comprehension of spoken language. Impairment of this integration process likely underlies the speech comprehension deficits characteristic of Wernicke aphasia.

Effect of aphasia on acute stroke outcomes
Conclusion: Aphasia is independently associated with increased LOS and complications during the acute stroke admission, adding $2.16 billion annually to US acute stroke care. The presence of aphasia was more likely to produce a poor functional outcome than hemiparesis. These data suggest that further research is necessary to determine whether establishing adaptive communication skills can mitigate its consequences in the acute stroke setting.
