Cytochrome P450-derived eicosanoids in brain: From basic discovery to clinical translation
Adv Pharmacol. 2023;97:283-326. doi: 10.1016/bs.apha.2022.11.002. Epub 2023 Jan 11.ABSTRACTCytochrome P450 metabolism of arachidonic acid produces epoxyeicosatrienoates (EETs) and hydroxyeicosatetraenoates (HETEs). Both classes of eicosanoids play important and opposing roles in brain function and disease. EETs promote vasodilation and exhibit antiinflammatory and cytoprotective properties; their biological action is blunted by metabolism to less active diols by the enzyme soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH). EETs levels are dysregulated in disease states, primarily due to increased activity of sEH. Inhibition of sEH is a prom...

Associations of circulating metabolites with cerebral white matter hyperintensities
This study found that the majority of lipoprotein subclasses and lipid concentration are strongly associated with WMH volume, and several non-lipid-related traits such as Gly, MUFA, and degree of unsaturation present certain effects on WMH. In addition, the results revealed the sex and age specificities indicating the distinct metabolomic features impact WMH in diverse individuals. These results demonstrated the power of detailed metabolite profiling for biomarker discovery, which can yield an improved molecular understanding of disease mechanisms. AbstractWhite matter hyperintensities (WMH) are the most compelling risk fa...

Clinical Effect of Shibing Xingnao Granules on Vascular Dementia Patients and Its Effect on Serum Neuronal Apoptosis Molecules
Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand). 2023 Feb 28;69(2):144-149. doi: 10.14715/cmb/2023.69.2.24.ABSTRACTIt was intended to study the clinical effect of Shibing Xingnao Granules on patients with vascular dementia (VD) and to explore its effect on serum neuronal apoptosis molecule levels in VD patients. For this purpose, 78 VD patients, as research objects, were grouped into a control group (acupuncture therapy) and an observation group (acupuncture therapy + Shibing Xingnao Granules) using the random number table method, with 39 cases per group. The clinical effect, cognitive function, neurological function, activity of daily liv...
