Echocardiographic correlates of MRI imaging markers of cerebral small-vessel disease in patients with atrial-fibrillation-related ischemic stroke
ConclusionIn patients with AF-related ischemic stroke, LVPW is associated with a higher risk of lacunes and CSVD burden, while RAD was associated with greater CSO-EPVS. Larger studies are required to determine these associations and to elucidate if these associations can help facilitate cognitive evaluation and brain MRI screening.

Cerebral small-vessel disease at high altitude: A comparison of patients from plateau and plain
ConclusionPatients of CSVD residing at high altitude showed more severe WMH but less acute cerebrovascular events and lacunes in neuroimaging, comparing to patients residing at low altitude. Our findings suggest potential biphasic effect of high altitude on the occurrence and progression of CSVD.

Normal left atrial diameter is associated with better performance on a cognitive screener among a cohort of ischemic stroke patients
ConclusionsIn this prospective study, among ischemic stroke patients with a LAD within the normal range, a 1 mm increase in LAD was associated with higher scores on a telephone cognitive battery, without an association found among those with a LAD >4 cm.

ConclusionSelf-reported cognitive and psychiatric symptoms at 3 months predict increased daytime sleep and fatigue at 12 months. This highlights the relevance of monitoring cognitive and psychiatric symptoms in the subacute phase post-stroke. However, future research using validated measures of self-reported symptoms are needed to further explore these relationships.

Cognitive recovery in patients with post-stroke subjective cognitive complaints
ConclusionsAlthough post-stroke SCC contributes to persisting objective cognitive deficits, some patients presented cognitive recovery within 1 year after stroke. Patients with a high education level reporting SCC at earlier stage after stroke had poorer cognitive recovery. Late-onset seizures and epilepsy: Electroclinical features suggestive of autoimmune etiology
ConclusionOur study shows that high-frequency focal seizures with autonomic manifestations should raise the suspicion of AE in the elderly with new-onset seizures. It also highlights the relevant contribution of AEEG, which might reduce the diagnostic delay and provide useful clues to recognize AE.

Blood pressure control and risk of post-stroke dementia among the elderly: A population-based screening study
ConclusionsThe crude prevalence of PSD among stroke survivors aged ≥65 years was 17.8% at community level. In addition to lower education level and older age, poorly-controlled blood pressure was also an independent risk factor for PSD among the elderly, which is amenable to intervention. Therefore, it is essential to control blood pressure to reduce PSD incidence.
