Use of surgical laser during excisional biopsy of pyogenic granuloma in a bedridden patient: a case report
Pyogenic granuloma is described as a benign nodular growth of the oral cavity, usually related to local irritation or trauma. It can be painless and commonly has superficial bleeding due to the large vascularization of the lesion. The use of a surgical laser in its excision may have some advantages, such as a low amount of intrasurgical blood and better tissue healing. A 74-year-old female patient bedridden for 6 years due to sequelae of hemorrhagic stroke presented with a tumor lesion on the left side of the tongue, with an irregular surface, pink color, and pedicled base, measuring approximately 2 cm and bleeding spontaneously.
