A rare cause of headache-the importance of a tissue diagnosis and perseverance
A 64 year old diabetic hypertensive milkman presented in September 2011 with 4 months progressive constant right frontotemporal retro–orbital pain. It was worse at night affecting sleep with slight right field blurring and later vomiting. Full examination including blood pressure was normal with acuities 6/9. Tension type headache was considered. Initial brain CT was reported as normal. In June 2011 a 74 years old‐non smoker woman came to our attention complaining for months dyspnea and dry cough resistant to nonspecific antibiotic therapy (amoxicillin/clavulanic acid and levofloxacin, prescribed by her physician, for 10 days). She had no history of respiratory diseases; she had instead history of cerebri stroke (in March 2006), without neurological outcome, and throat cancer treated with radiotherapy 10 years before. Secondhand smoke (SHS) exposure increases the risk of lung cancer, stroke, coronary heart disease and respiratory problems. Among children, SHS exposure is associated with: increased risk of respiratory infections (including asthma, bronchitis and pneumonia); severity of asthma symptoms, middle ear infections; and sudden infant death syndrome. Trends in Length of Stay, Functional Outcomes, and Discharge Destination Stratified by Disease Type for Inpatient Rehabilitation in Singapore Community Hospitals From 1996 to 2005
Conclusions: Rehabilitation outcomes of patients admitted to Singapore's community hospitals have improved between 1996 and 2005 despite a decreasing LOS. Discharge destinations have largely remained unchanged over this period.
